    I have two side-hustles.
One the short-game...the other is the long-game.

First is my own business where I do ad-hoc work on the off-hours...bring in extra income. I don't push it...it comes when it comes.
Second is leveraging my inventions...developing or partnering with other firms to bring them to market.

The 2nd is a more subtle and political thing...you have to be VERY careful, otherwise people will take the money and run.
But I do invent things. BIG ideas. Cutting Edge ideas.
However, as I learned some time ago...having an idea...and having it USED are two different things. (much less bought and paid for...)

The first allows me to help people with my skills...brings in some extra for whatever.
The second...may get me to "Steve Jobs" level. Turning the world on it's head...and getting the money to prove it.

And yes, I have to audacity to think I can do it.

I work as a bouncer at a gay/lesbian night club. The pay isn't great but it's easy money and I've met a lot ofcool people. Including my girlfriend.

I flip antiques and electronics from thrift stores. Occasionally it's something else, I have a pair of gorgeous boots in size 15D on eBay now and another to be listed after they go.

Jadzia and I did the SATs.
We would also grade the essays online.
It was a nice little sideline and we could throw some to our friends and family as well.

    Uh.....mmm.....I don't remember.

I've considerred selling clothing on eBay. In my thrift/resale store searches I come across a lot of unique shirts that cost major $$ new.

It's mentioned elsewhere on the forum, but I'll push pixels for cash on the side, in addition to my full time job. I have also been known to play the occasional paid music gig as well.

I have to get that going. I can't bring myself to sell stuff.

I'd be glad to sell stuff, if I didn't have such a hard time with packaging it to mail.

That, and it's time consuming to photograph and properly describe each item.

I'm an eBay buyer, but I know many folks on another forum who regularily sell on eBay. Some of them have eBay stores. They refer to it as feePay because of the existing fees that eBay increases and the new fees that they introduce on a regular basis. They also have issues with eBay's buyer protection policies because many of the sales involve used two-cycle equipment (the potential for disagreements between sellers and buyers is high).

I got together with a bunch of my friends two years ago and we organized a collective yard sale to get rid of a bunch of our crap, which was pretty successful. I think we're going to try again. The hardest thing I've found to move in such sales is books, and I've got a ton to unload.

A bit off topic—I know there was talk a while ago about establishing some sort of free exchange of goods over TFP. If anybody's in the market for works of fiction and non-fiction across a wide variety of topics, let me know. I'd be happy to share the wealth.

It's a challenge to get a significant gig off-hours and remote.
Most just want onsite during standard hours. (control)
Most just want a quick merc troubleshooting scenario or a fantasy build...but they don't want to invest either.

Them being wishy-washy prevents any consistency...and I'm not of the time or mind at the moment into investing the energy to get overlapping projects.
I put it out there, they'll periodically bite...even then they're mostly guppies...or throw back into the pond size. (or thrashing so you can't hold it)
But it's like fly fishing on a lazy pond...and don't have the patience to bait...and wait or grind it out.
I see what the recruiters and contract vendors have to deal with...I don't want it.

I'm more of a Sea-World specialist in Killer Whales. ;)
Big, budgeted, established and enclosed...someone else deals with the biz admin and marketing.

On the pond, it's a hobby...
