    The New York Times referred to Caruso as "the Babe Ruth of operatic tenors." The famous Italian tenor, on a performance tour of the USA, was asked by a newspaper reporter in Omaha what he thought of Babe Ruth's performance.
    Caruso, always polite and a gentleman, offered that he didn't know, as he had never heard her sing.
