I should probably say that I have no qualms about the cost of owning a vagina or even the cost of owning female hair. This is because my SO pays for all of that stuff (and not to mention that she earns twice as much as I do).

As an outside observer...I'd say it's not the cost of the vagina that is the difficulty.

    It's the complicated owner's manual. :p

    ----------

But seriously, all I need is a good deodorant, a decent razor and something to brush my teeth.
I'm a cheap date by comparison.

I feel for the extra effort ladies go through.
And no, I'm not uncomfortable going to get "lady stuff".
Just tell me what you want, I'll get it.

I'm not going to be responsible for "interpretation" though, that's their call.
Hell, I'm smart enough not to try to buy shoes or clothing, you think I'm going to attempt to decide on the other stuff???

(I could just imagine the reaction, "Here try this, I thought it would be good for you...")

Wait, they make those? I thought they always got lost during the packaging process.

Speaking of packaging...if only the vagina were as simple as Andrew "Dice" Clay makes them out to be: The box the penis comes in.

    OH!

I think the article is exaggerated. $15.95 a month to shave pubic hair? Bullshit. Plus, not all women buy those things. Some women don't need contraceptives, some women don't buy 'vaginal maintenance products' (other than tampons), some women don't have PMS, some women don't have frequent UTIs or yeast infections. Some of us don't have itchy vaginas.

I will guarantee you that my own yearly 'self-maintenance' costs are competitive with most of the conspicuously first world dudes here at the TFP.

We don't call it 'dye' now. She like to colour her hair. I'll bet it is pretty too and most important, she feels pretty.

The article tried to be comprehensive, it seems but that is impossible in that women's needs/tastes change over our lifespan.
I'm sure it's important to some women of a certain age to be 'bare down there' which would necessitate a lot of maintenance/expense over time. Then there's a vast range, near-naked and so on. (I need shave gel (expensive) and a good blade.)

Health care costs would vary widely depending on whether a woman remained child-free or not.
The OP assumes that all women use paper products for their monthly flow but some do not. Eco-conscious types could relay more on that expense.
No doubt it is costly but since vaginas don't operate independently then we are really looking at the cost to maintain feminine health/hygiene. Not gonna look it up but I believe as men are more vulnerable to disease and the ensuing costs, it is in fact expensive to have a penis as well.

10 years ago the Women's studies class I took in college went through those costs. The professor had a starting list, and then we came up with other costs as a class for both men and women that there are. It was an interesting assignment, but it is cheaper to be a guy, especially a poor male college student.

Interesting too that like numerous published studies, yours was of the behaviour of a group of college students. ;)
