It's nice to see Dr. Fauci speak without having Trump immediately contradicting him.

Even if Dr. Fauci still sounds like he trying to walk on eggshells.

It's just not as bad as when I Don't Need To Wear A Cover is present and frowning at him.

I wonder how long Dr. Coop would've lasted under Trump? Would've he attempted to serve, or recognized the futility in advance?

I see your point, but the majority of shortages were caused by people over-buying. Here we had people buying a shopping trolley full of toilet paper and nothing else. That isn't stopping them going shopping again. It is just stupidity.

You know what? If the fuckwits want to die, let them die. Open the churches, open the parks, open the restaurants and theaters. Spread the virus. Kill one another. It will help decrease the surplus population and thin the gene pool.

    GO DARWIN GO!

Edit: Damn, forgot the all important nail salons and barber shops!

Yeah, that’s no issue for the willfully neglectful.
The problem is the same idiots spread it to others
    Innocents and unawares

It’s not a one target thing.

A great thought. If only it would work.

As already mentioned, the virus won't only kill off the deniers and those who say return to business and pay the price.

I've heard religious leaders say they put their trust in God and prayer, not in government orders (which also includes medical science). So how did a very similar plan work out during The Plague?

I'm sure there are people who view Covid-19 as a cleansing, a removal of the old, the sick, the weak (physically and fiscally), the homeless, etc. In brief, the expendables.

Understood, maybe I should have put this in the Complaining and Bitching thread.

They're actively spreading it now. The people who want to be safe will stay home or wear masks in public. The people protesting are already accepting collateral damage. Ya can't fix stupid.

I understand why people wanted them to release the racial demographics of who is getting sick, but it is also backfiring. The conservative right doesn't care if poor Hispanics at meatpacking plants get sick, or poor black people working at grocery stores get sick and die. If it stays in the big cities it doesn't matter to them either.

I wouldn't be surprised if the political parties weren't looking up every person who passed away to see which political party they registered with (if they voted in the primary) to see if it would be a concern.

It’s the GOP that’s going to likely suffer the most in this.
Statistically, mostly older folk will pass.
They’re the ones that vote by trend for the GOP.

Now, Blacks are suffering greater by averages with the virus. But they make up a smaller percentage of the population. That affects the Dems.

Blue collar workers again make up more of those getting hit and passing. They’re GOP by trending.

You can say the big cities are hit, those often are Dem trending...but in time the rural areas will be hit also and at higher death rates, if predicted correctly. Those trend GOP...

So, we’ve got very close races in the past...presidential-wise.

This virus will overall...by November...will put the GOP at disadvantage overall.
And in a close race, that’s going to make a difference.

Also, when a crisis happens, if there’s no war stance, the party in presidential power gets the blame. The GOP here.

And while the initial crisis looked like a war, now it’s turning in a long slog including financial crisis...whatever advantage the GOP has is quickly going away.

And any perceived incompetence...that will also be blamed. You break it, you bought it.
You’re “in charge” you get the blame.
    The price for power.

Frankly, I doubt they’ll go quietly if they lose.
It’s going to be a mess.

But, we have to be alive first
    Everything else is negotiable

Yeah, I was talking with some other people about the options the administration has to mess with the election. Either by putting armed supporters outside the polling places since there might only be one or two per county if they do vote in person. Or by having the GOP governor postpone the election from Nov. 3rd, or at least try. What happens if Biden gets 270 electoral votes, but there are 5-6 states that haven't voted yet? Can Biden really claim to be the winner in an incomplete election? And that is just election day. It will be hard to postpone it because of Thanksgiving, and then Christmas. And if neither win enough votes, then the transition team won't be able to really get to work.

And then what happens if Biden does win and 50,000 armed Republicans surround the White House? That sounds like a recipe for disaster. Would Trump even go to the Inauguration? Would the military have to be called in to remove the protestors/rebels? Would they have to fly in troops in helicopters and sneak Biden in via copter too? It sounds like a movie pitch, but nothing is too crazy anymore.

Well, fortunately...all the generals hate him.
Pelosi is still Speaker...and has authority if he deviates, including another impeachment.

    Trump won’t have a choice.
They’re already likely preparing for it.

Otherwise Biden wouldn’t have announced that he’d support investigations and prosecution after the fact...including that of Trump himself.

It’s all going to start piling on
I’m not worried about him leaving
I’m more worried about him doing something stupid as he panics.

And all of the above makes me think Shyster and his puppets, and the GOP, will try to suppress negative Covid-19 news, esp. death numbers.

They'll beat voters with their positive news, and ignore bad news. How that will shake out in the election is anybody's guess...at this time.

Can some, perhaps many, of the voters who supported Shyster during The 2016 Perfect Storm of Discontent be convinced his pro-business stance is killing people? Namely the working class who believed Shyster.

I've always envisioned Shyster making various claims about election fraud, and refusing to vacate the office.

I can no longer watch the news. Whether it's local or national, all it shows are under educated nitwits holding Trump rallies. It's depressing to know that so many people are that fucking stupid. So, the wife and I no longer watch.

That's why I don't actually watch the news anymore. Most is hyped up or tabloidesque, even the standard evening, they focus on the controversy...and you have to wait on them.
I only do online news now. This allows me the time and discretion to get into articles I'm interested in. Not drama or repeating of info.
I usually can get the gist of it by the headline or the first few paragraphs. I even skip parts to the interesting stuff or down to the end to get the summary.
Hey my time is valuable...and there's more than enough to browse through in a day.

I prefer aggregate sites, that have a variety of news pieces together.
Bing (the articles at the bottom are fairly real-time and good to get to variety of sources)
Fark.com is still great to go to. (been on there for years...it's how I got here...the comments are always fun to read)
Real Clear Politics is also nice (and they have other topics, science, history, defense, religion, books, etc...it's pretty good to peruse)

I tend to cycle thru some variety of sites...Bloomberg, 538, Politico, WTOP for my area, WaPo, NYT, etc...

On FB I ignore anyone that's going off the wall or put them in their place politely asking them to refrain from spouting off spin and faerie tails. (if not, I'll block them)
I'll only deal with truth and facts.
To be honest, if I find out one of mine is accidentally confirmed otherwise fake later, I'll take it down. (I don't want to be a part of the problem...but hey, I'm not perfect at fact-checking, fortunately, it's rare)

    =====

Basically, we're down to 3 types...ones that fully comply, ones that fully don't and ones in-between.
But my attitude these days is this
    If I'm wrong...I'm still alive.
If they're wrong...I'd be potentially dead. (or really messed up...which I don't want either.)
So I'd rather err on the side of caution. It's a win-win situation. (Worst thing...eh, I'm a boring introvert for a year or 2...but the bonus is, I save tons of money. Win again. Alive and richer)
