I know two people that have brain damage linked to Red Bull and vodka. One of whom I witnessed having a psychotic break after 9 of them.

I still love a good baybreeze, irish coffee or just coffee with frangelico, an old fashioned, or bloody Mary. I but with the diet change, liquor is causing serious headaches. Blinding. So, I guess I'll stick with wine (less headache), and beer (the least).

 

Malibu & Red Bull used to be my "dancing at the club" drink. Nowadays, I tend to stay away from liquor when beer is available, as it's usually cheaper and gives me less of a hangover.

I do enjoy the occasional Firefly Sweet Tea vodka with lemonade. I like margaritas if they're made with real lime juice, and not a mix.

 

Red Bull is just nasty. Why would anyone subject themselves to drinking that swill?

Vodka is for those who don't like flavour in their alcohol.

Scotch with a splash of water is my first choice, but that's not a cocktail.

And thanks Noodle for reminding me of Bloody Mary or Bloody Caesar. Those are good with brunch (especially after a night of drinking).

 

I love Bloody Marys, too.
And margaritas, of course.
But I usually stick to red wine or beer because it is less expensive. Or, at least they can be inexpensive. I am always on the lookout for sales.

 

Yes, I forgot to mention that. Only gin in a martini.

I don't "get" vodka. I guess I like a liquor with taste. Vodka, to me makes for a great cocktail if you're looking to minimize the taste of the booze and accentuate that of the mixers. Personally, I like the taste of booze.

Maybe too much, sometimes.

 

I don't think vodka is flavorless, maybe that's why I like it.

 

Never cared much for martinis-- I hate gin, and I tend to think all that vermouth ruins good vodka. But I will second Craven Morehead with the occasional vodka gimlet. Although I always use very high-end vodka (Chopin is my favorite), fresh squeezed lime juice, and simple syrup that has been infused with lime zest, and I have been known to garnish with a slice of candied lime....

 

Those who drink gallon jug varieties of vodka think it lacks flavor and body.

 

The only thing worse than people who drink box wine is people who think Maneschewitz and Mogen David are wine.

 

There are some very drinkable wines being put into boxes. Not many but there are a few.

 

it's true. not all box wines are bad. some of them are pretty good and they keep a lot longer after opening than bottles.

 

Vodka brings a dimension into fruit juices that creates a symbiotic beverage, in my experience. That's why I drink it at times.

Charlatan, I also dig a Bloody Maria or a really good michelada, too. Depends on the day and the meal.

 

If I am at home, I prefer wine or chilled vodka. In the rare instance I'm at a bar, I usually get a Sex On the Beach.
