Little late to the party, sorry. I spent this Christmas with a good friends family. Here they start at mid-night with the "posada" or the "inn." The younger family members stand out side the house and sing they are seeking an room in inn. Those inside the house sing back the inn is full and they should look elsewhere. Which is followed by a plea from outside that "we are Mary and Joseph and Mary is with child." The response from inside (based on my Spanish) is "we care not what your names are... we have no room." After much singing those outside announce Mary's child is the "king of kings" and they are welcomed into the "inn." After which food is served and drinks flow (I didn't drink at all as I drove and many ex-pats have been finding themselves in jail for 72 for any BAC.) At around 2:30-3:00am the pinata is broke, candy is gathered and the younger group head off to the "after party" while those of us over 35-40 sat and talked until dawn. I had a conversation with the grandfather who complained many on his baseball team are trying to get him to spend more time on the bench then the field... he's 87. He said he was better and knew more about the game then any of the those youngsters in their 60's. Good for him.

At dawn myself and my date returned to my house where we both fell asleep the minute we hit the sheets. At around noon she woke me up to ensure I knew I was missing my football game. I told her I was pretty sure the game I wanted to watch wasn't on until 7-8pm. She showed me "no, it's on now." Was a nice gesture but was a soccer match not the NFL game I wanted to see. So we spent the day in bed watching movies like "Die Hard, Christmas Vacation" and all the other stuff they play every year while drinking various types of booze. I ran out of good rum. But turns out I like Absolute raspberry vodka, who knew?

Overall one of the better Christmases I've had down here.
