They won't accept a payment plan for the rest? That's really shitty. Even Mayo Clinic here (notorious for high charges) will accept a payment plan. I'm sorry Ralphie. I can't stay asleep half the time and then have trouble staying awake some days. It's awful. I hope they can work out something soon.

Check Craigslist for used cpap machines. You can buy it and clean it up. I just saw some for less than $100 locally here. You can buy tubing and supplies through Amazon pretty cheap too. Probably not ideal, but better than nothing.

You need to have a re-eval if you did have the sleep study the last time you talked about this in 2013. Things could have changed significantly since then so I think getting a used one would be fine, but NOT until to get recent information on settings, what kind of equipment you need, etc. You're playing with your lunges and oxygenation, which needs to be specifically prescribed for you.

Last time I had a study I got the machine and had it for about a week then my employer changed insurance so I had to give it back and would have had to have everything done all over.

idk if its safe to just experiement with the pressure; i would stick to the legit medical route if at all possible and get it properly calibrated based on your own breathing.

in an update to my experience... i have gone on a serious health kick the last 3 years, lost over 100lbs, and haven't needed my cpap in over a year. so if you work at it, apnea can be reversed sometimes.

i went vegetarian (w/ a bit of fish here and there), i stopped drinking (switched to weed exclusively) and i walked. i started with 10min any direction from my house, which when added with the return trip was the minimum recommended cardio per day. from there i got bored so lengthened the walks more and more through the days and weeks, to where i go about 6mi round trip now and mix in some light jogging. when i set it out to do it, i wanted to do it on my own w/out books or groups, and relax/chill my way to my baseline weight... and i did it. i think anyone can too; the willpower is just a muscle and you can exercise it like any other. you just have to remember its a life change that takes a looooooong time, and not a project to be picked up and put down.

That's very inspirnational. but I don't have that kind of will power.

going to be 100% honest here. im a fat bastard.

    im 6'2" 360 and 35 years old.
I don't eat right. I don't eat breakfast, seldom eat lunch and when I eat dinner its normally late like 9 ish. I work 13-14 hours a day.

I played football in high school. I spent lots of time in the weightroom. then once I got married most of it turned to fat. im not blaming my wife its just life. I quit lifting weights and started working and living and family stuff

I don't like gyms. everytime I think about it I go and all I see are people that are in shape or skinny or built. im not going in there as the fat guy and have everyone look at me and point.

I don't like to be seen with my wife or daughter in public. my daughter has even told me that she don't want me to go places sometimes cause she don't want her friends to make fun of her cause her dads big. that makes me feel real good. sometimes I wonder if my wife even finds me attractive because of my weight. she already don't like to have sex, and I often wonder if its cause im a fat bastard. and I don't have any will power because its easier to just go with what works. were suposto go to the beach in june and I just don't want to go, I mean who wants to see the fat gut at the beach.
today I have had to eat, I am in the process of eating a foot long meatball sub from subway with everything on it and doritos and sweet tea. that's my lunch today. some days I just snack on beef jerky for lunch

as the original poster I can sidetrack this thread. lol

also is that diamond dallas page the wrestler??

Ralphie, you're 35 years old, which is relatively young. You already have a history of health problems. Your weight and health problems are only going to get worse as you age.

I recall posting in another thread some basic things you can do to improve tour eating habits.

Breakfast: Keep a stock of hardboiled eggs in the fridge, provided that you don't have cholesterol problems. An egg and a piece of fresh fruit doesn't take long to eat, and wouldn't take that much adjustment. Cottage cheese on a piece toast and a piece of fresh fruit. Some people don't realize that forcing yourself to eat breakfast can be difficult.

Lunch: A simple sandwich (take it easy of the meat, cheese & dressing) with a small of amount of veggies such as lettuce (good lettuce, not iceberg) and some tomato slices, maybe some onion as well. Keep the veggies in a separate container, so that the sandwich doesn't get soggy. More fresh fruit in place of chips or cookies. Water instead of sweet tea. There are some very good artificial sweeteners available today (there's a thread here at TFP) if you really like tea. Yes, your taste buds will need time to adjust.

Dinner: Try to avoid prepackaged foods. Yes, many of the heat & serve items are tasty, and you can get reduced sodium, low calorie, and low fat. The problem is the "reduced" amount is usually still very high. Cook your own dishes, control the sodium, fat, & calories that way. Include veggies, fresh is best, frozen is fine (I don't care for the taste of canned veggies, but that's an option). If you're carbo/starch person, go with smaller servings. Healthy dinners can also make for healthy leftovers for lunch.

The variety of no-salt seasonings these days is mind boggling. Mrs. Dash (just one of many), even with a bit of salt, is better than say Lowery's Seasoning Salt.

The best exercise equipment in the world is something you already own: Your legs and feet. As for people pointing, that probably won't happen enarly as much as you might imagine. IME most people will think it's good to someone doing something about their weight. As to the jerks, fuck them, they're jerks.

    ok couple of stupid questions...
what are the good and bad fruits?
the hard thing is my sweet tea. that's a hard one. '
is a blt an ok samich?
I used to walk my dog, but maybe I can talk my wife and daughter into going with me and taking their dogs.

I NEED desperately to do something. and I know yall will point me in the right direction. I have noticed that quite a few tfpers are loosing weight. atleast yall wont make fun of me.

the odd thing is that 99% of the time I don't give a fuck what people think or say, but when it comes to my weight its a differnet story

It is DDP alright. Nicer than his wrestling persona.

You need to find a way to have a more positive attitude about your self worth man. You don't need a gym, but take some time to do a few things on your own, if only for your own sanity.

Walks. Deep knee bends. Heck, do 10 reps of getting up and down from the couch. You can go to Walmart and get some workout bands and just do various pulls while you watch TV or walk even.
