That's why I'm surprised no one made any threads on the DOW shitting the bed, the downgrade of the USA rating, the idea that S&P ratings are full of shit, etc. All good topics that could be a stand alone thread different than the Debt Ceiling.

Every night before I go to bed I count how many threads there are in GD to see if I can open Politics and for the past just over a week, it stays at 5 threads.

    Make more.

Fair enough. The problem with that is that those that aren't interested in the topic of Debt Ceiling don't realize that the S&P conversation is happening anywhere on the board here. It makes it look like the community isn't interested in it, when clearly there is some community that is.

Like you are politicking for the new forum, you also want to politic those that are not knowing or interested in a secluded politics forum into wanting to know what happened to the discussion and the redirect sends them to a forum that they have to request access to. Really, create more discussions not less. It benefits us better because there will be better web crawlers finding the discussions and in turn others can find us.

For what it's worth, I am not interested whatsoever in contributing to a Politics (or economics) or a Weapons forum. BUT....I was really excited that I could "uncheck" those forums so I wouldn't have to read them. Y'know? If those forums don't exist, I've got a bunch of weapons and politics threads showing up on the "What's New" page, and I'm just skipping...skipping...skipping.

I'm not sure if that helps the case or hurts it, but I would love to be able to filter all those posts out completely. Just sayin' :)

That is the reason why I broke them up into that manner. I want to try to keep a core group of forums and then give people a little ability to be self service on their own.

BTW, for the time being the Politics, Philosophy, and Economics threads should be posted in General Discussion until there are enough posts to warrant it's own forum.

I'm confused on the politics forum. I'm a long time TFP member but haven't been very active since the change over. This is because most of my activity is on the politics forum. Unfortunately I've never seen a politics forum on the new site. However, today I was logged out and I saw that their is a politics forums and I can view it anonymously but as soon as I log in the forum disappears... Why is this?

Rekna, I think if you'd read this thread or the other ones that explain the new set-up, you'd be less confused. Regardless, you now have access. Welcome back.

I take a bit of umbrage with the folks who get all prissy and offended at the tone of politics forum. It's the way politics has been discussed since time immemorial. The subject strikes to the very heart of a person's core values, ideals, sense of justice and right/wrong...for those who take it seriously, anyway. If you want to get a hug for your political views go see your mom...or someone else who thinks your special. If you want to talk about politics, put your heart into it and go in with your, uh, guns blazing. It's not personal...even when it's personal, if you know what I mean. It's passion. Political debate is no place for people who kinda, sorta feel they have an opinion.

  12. I think I speak for everyone here, even though I'm a the bottom of the second page, when I say.... No. You cannot have your Politics Forum back.

Not that that I ever posted or even ventured in there.
