Budgeting

Discussion in 'Tilted Life and Sexuality' started by genuinemommy, Oct 29, 2014.

  1. I got the same idea from my parents. I don't even have any college debt.

Medical debt is another story. Stupid chronic illness. I do have a lovely FSA for that.

I sort of budget. I pay off all my monthly bills when I get my paycheck. I also put 10% of my paycheck in my savings account. Anything left over is mad money...which I'm not so mad these days. If the end of the month rolls around and I have money leftover from my paycheck the previous month, I put that into savings. I have it set up to where my credit card balance is paid off every month. I don't use it for much, so it's not a big deal.

I have yet to start a college fund for little missy. I plan to help her as much as we can, but make sure she knows it's not a totally free ride. She will have to have a certain GPA to maintain the mommy scholarship.

it doesn't work by monthly or even annually. it amortizes monthly, but it doesn't really do budgets by month. It makes you allocate money as you get it. It is basically a zero sum budget so that every dollar is accounted for as it comes in.
