Well, don't get me wrong, it's a nice thread and all. :p
But I was responding to another comment that has now been *gasp* disappeared!

Here's a really great show of solidarity, no matter the choice of breast or formula. It's special enough that I just had to share, and this thread seemed a good place to do it!

    1. Yes.
    2. No I was unable to.
    3. In my case, it was the milk never "coming in". I damn near starved my daughter giving breastfeeding all I had though.
    4. Not at first, but if the baby will take formula at all, I can't see that its a bad thing - sometimes you CANT breastfeed for various reasons, you shouldn't get upset by the idea of supplementing being a possibility if you are really gung-ho about breastfeeding.
    5. Absolute best best best of luck to you in giving it a go - I very much wanted to and couldn't and it bothered me for a long time.

I should probably give an update in this thread. My daughter is 5 months old, and I have been able to keep up with making more than enough milk for her. She prefers bottle over breast for a variety of reasons, but because I have a surplus, there is always freshly-pumped breast milk in those bottles. I find that since I make so much milk, I get engorged as she nurses and I have to pump about half of it out before I even try for a latch, then pump after she has finished. One advantage to her preferring a bottle is that she doesn't grab for my breasts like many babies her age. She reaches for a bottle whenever she is hungry and it is in sight. We do occasionally nurse in the evenings, but it's becoming more and more rare. She has already started self-feeding solids.

That is a great update. I wasn't here when you posted this, but if you don't mind, I will answer for my woman and I.
Do you think breast is best? Yes, we both do, especially today, when there are so many chemicals in formula.
Have you breastfed your children? Yes, three children, seven years total.
What are the challenges faced by breastfeeding women? Disapproval of the masses. We won that fight and we stand for any breastfeeding mother today.
What about supplementing breast milk with formula? Absolutely not, if you can breastfeed. Otherwise choose your foods very carefully.
Anything else? If you can breastfeed go for it. Let your child decide when he/she is done.
