There is criticism of group selection, but that's far from the nail in the coffin that you've implied. You may want to scale back on the absolutes you use in your speech. It gives you the air of false authority. If you have some actual authority on the subject, then share your credentials.

Not a lot of time to post, but that essay is a good start. The problem with group selection is that it adds a unnecessary layer of complexity.

 

I can'r remember if I posted this or not.

I saw a porn flick featuring one guy and two women. The guy was wearing silk/satin boxers that were clingy and a bit tight. His bulge wasn't particularily impressive. His eventual erection was so large, at least 18" with proportional girth, he had to wear a harness to stop it from falling over. Niether of the women could handle more than about 8".

 

18" is so large that I'd seriously wonder if he could even GET a full erection without blood pressure issues.

 

I once saw a porn involving two black men, who of course, were both well over 13". Now at some point one of them "came loose" enough you could tell that it was a fake and his real (normal sized) penis was inside it. Looked realistic until then.

 

My initial thought was "Uh-uh, this' just a strap-on and some clever camera work." If so, the money shot with the camera pulled back, showing the entire penis not just the head, was pretty convincing.

With that said, having a truly huge penis of that size would be a novelty, not something useful. A guy might get some "curosity" sex, and/or a career in porn and/or live performances (provided he could perform 'on command'), but in the real world it would be a hinderance.

 

Frankly, I don't believe there are any natural, unmodified, healthy human penises more than about 13 inches long.

This is the era of easy photo and video editing. Any larger penis, appearing in a movie made for entertainment purposes, ought to be viewed with skepticism.

 

The vid I spoke of was done in the mid '80s or earlier. I'm not a porn fan (see my rants) so I don't know and can't post the actor's name. If I did, one of the geezers might be able to say yay or nay. That's not to say doctoring wasn't possible and done "way back then ."

 

Yep, plenty of people, including Richard Dawkins, have a lot of criticism of group selection, but being that they are arguing against many practicing scientists, who think that there is validity for it being included, there is far from a consensus. Most of the argument is the amount of influence group selection might play. The same can be said for Natural Selection in general also. My point is not that group selection is the be all and end all, but that the nail has yet been struck in the coffin of the theory. As such, it is premature to speak with such authority on it. Even Dawkins doesn't say it with such finality.

Personally, I would think that the fact that we all possess the genes for the different behaviors that make us nice or beasts makes sense, regardless of mate selection process, but it would seem to have some influence.

The Guinness World Record is 13" last I saw. Considering porns feature people with members supposedly over 20" you have to assume some good makeup/prosthetic work going on. You would think that the actors with larger members would line up to be listed as a world record holder. Would go well on the resume.

 

Evolution is my thing in biology. Group selection appeals to non-biologists and most of the works are aimed at that group. Most of the responses are technical and journal oriented, though some like Dawkins bring it out to the general debate. There is nothing in group selection which can't be explained by kin selection. Group selection is dying in biology circles but it will persist in the public and the more fuzzy fields for quite some time, but in the end I feel its simply wishful thinking.

Edit: I should add that the Templeton Foundation is a heavy supporter of group selection and funds group selection scientists.

 

There are a lot of options out there for penis enlargement. The typical cock is 5-6 inches long. I am a jerk on this conversation and like a man who will not do someone over 25. Size does matter to me, and I have also found men with large cocks are crazy good sexually.
