My hubs rocked a goatee on and off for years, but decided to shave it because the lack of mustache looked less professional. He's grown a full, neatly trimmed beard since early summer and I LOVE it. No neck involvement, cleaned on the cheeks following the natural curve of his jaw and face. It doesn't look sculpted, however. I think is awesome. He totally had the face for it and he has a baby-face without it.

I came across this article today.

Apparently 10-day stubble tops the hotness scale, but 5-day stubble was on the bottom.

Whether either is professional is another story, I guess.

Personally, I've grown accustomed to several days' worth of stubble. Maybe I'll find out just how long 10 days is.

I've been known to go days at a time without shaving, but I feel like after ten days it's not really accurate to describe your face hair as stubble anymore. Pretty sure it's just a beard by that point.

My industry has different standards of professionalism. A professional in my line of work is the guy who doesn't have any holes in his t-shirt. Beards are completely acceptable.

In a more general sense I don't think there's anything at all wrong with nicely trimmed face fur. It's like anything else to do with appearance, really -- grooming is key.

Hell, in my husband's industry, holes are par for the course. Acid eats through cotton, and unfortunately, it's not noticeable until after the item has gone through the wash.

After getting fitted for his respirator, which required a shave, hubs promptly grew his beard back. It was a very good thing, as without facial hair, he looks fifteen.
