    Another way is to use a Mac. There's no way to guarantee against viruses, of course, but like non-standard browsers, few hackers seem to hack MacOS. I've tried Opera and a couple of others, but I just like Firefox and Safari.
    I've used Macs since I was in high school twenty years ago.
    I've never had a virus.
    And based on a friend's advice, I did set up a separate user account on my computer just to browse porn. For porn sites I use an old (but still active) email address from back in my dancing days, 34dgirl@fillintheblank.com. I think it's kind of poetic.:D
    I don't always remember to "switch" when I want to browse, but I've still never had a virus.

    Now, if I could just figure out a way to completely block popups from livejasmin and mackeeper...:mad:

    That's true, however more hackers are writing for Apple since their popularity increased with Mac, iPads and iPhones. And Apple takes more time to create patches for viruses than MS.
    It's more likely your separate locked down account.

    BTW, you can download and try out multiple blockers...some allow for simple "right-click" blocks if the auto-blocker doesn't get it...plus if they're really annoying you can block the address the popup is coming from.
    Typically, they all originate from the same source on the same site...so it will get more than one.

    The mac thing is a myth. Macs get plenty of viruses, they just don't seem to because of the power of the Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field, how few macs are actually out there, and the relative computer illiteracy of their userbase as a whole. Just use firefox, adblockplus, noscript, and whitelist just the video.

    I find that there's three main sites I use consistently. Firefox with adblock plus has worked well for me, along with having FF's popup blocker enabled and set to prevent automatic redirects. Although I need to look into why I've been seeing ads lately on one of the sites I use. I need to look into the noscript thing too.

    I've noticed for some time now, I've been shifting to being interested more in amateur/homemade type stuff because it seems more genuine in a way. Obviously certain things are more exciting than others. But certain things can be distracting and annoying to me, such as too much close up, music or a tv on that overpowers the sex sounds, someone off camera talking to the people that are on camera. Those are just some of what I call "porn pet peeves."

    I'm curious what the status this material enjoys in Japanese culture? Is it relatively mainstream, like a romance novel? Could you read it on a crowded subway without a second thought? Or is it still the kind of thing you would want to clear your browser history after looking at? Or maybe somewhere in between.

    BL magazines are fairly mainstream publications. This is the magazine my two favorites get published in 『エメラルド』オフィシャルWEBサイト | 角川書店 | KADOKAWA The publisher, Kadokawa, is a major entity in the Japanese publishing world.

Because of my hetero bent, I like seeing naked dudes and I often dont find the men particularly attractive in those publications that appeal to hetero men. That is not their focus. If they cared about my attention at all, they would rid themselves of those skinny mustached punks and oil themselves up some exceptionally fun and built partners for those girls.

    Resurrecting this thread because I've recently been looking at Japanese porn, (my guy enjoys it too) mostly videos on porntube sites and pics/gifs on tumblr. I can identify with the petite and small (5'2'' and 110lbs, like me) Japanese girls more than the taller heftier Western stars. And breast implants are a real rarity.

    I could swear that JAV star (Momoka Nishina) has gone back in time and reincarnated my eighteen year old tits from about 1994. I look at her and could swear I'm looking in the mirror twenty some years ago.

    It's hard to understand why their web jockeys can't do a more idiomatic translation of things, though.     My primary concern with Japanese porn is that so little of it is truly nonprofessional amateur and homemade, and what is produced by their mainstream adult video concerns are controlled almost exclusively by the yakuza. From what I have been told, there is a lot of compulsion and nonconsensuality that goes on in their treatment of actresses.

    And I agree about the sound in their porn...although I rarely like sound anyway (muted),
    the pro stuff is often faked or overdone...the amateur stuff is hollow with a lot of background noise.
    If I'm going to unmute it, it's for the "plot" leadup...then it most often goes back on mute for the action.

    I only like sounds in my real-life sexual adventures, if & when they come. (no pun intended)

    I'm just glad both sexes are enjoying good ol' adult fare.

    Porn filmmakers have a long tradition of dubbing in sound afterwards, because the real sound is full of shouted stage directions to the actors.

    The substitute sound track is rarely done well. Very often the action and the sound are blatantly out of synch.

    There's a story of some porn producers (the Mitchell brothers) who were enlisted to film some conference about free speech. It turned out afterwards they had filmed it with no sound, because that's the way their camera people were used to doing it.

    Amateur efforts have their flaws, but at least they have real sound. The best pros (higher production values) also have real sound, because their actors don't need to be told what to do mid-scene.
