Am I a dork for wanting to go see a country concert?

Discussion in 'Tilted Entertainment' started by Borla, Aug 23, 2011.

  1. I've been to dorkier concerts than that!
10 or so years ago, my brother scored tickets to see Bobby Vinton and invited QW and I to join his wife and him. QW thought I was nuts because I really wanted to go. My older brothers and sisters wore out his albums when I was a kid... I was conditioned from youth to be a fan. He put on a great show and we had a fantastic night.
If the price of those tickets doesn't faze you, go for it and have a blast!

If you like bluegrass, listen to Old Crow Medicine Show and The Hackensaw Boys. I've seen both live multiple times, very fun shows.

I always think that I don't like country music. What I realized is that I don't like BAD country music. I don't like bad music in general.

I was surprised one day to find out that Olivia Newton John was actually listed as a country singer. I love her older stuff. :)

The same thing goes for concerts and shows. A bad one is a bad one, don't matter the genre.

I don't like country, especially new country (do people still call it that?). I do like some Johnny Cash and music of that era... it always struck me as a little less country and a little more rock and roll.

I am not one to talk about dorky concerts. My first concert was a Neil Sedaka concert. Granted my Mom dragged me to it, and I was under 10, but it was still dorky.

I've never understood why people worry about what music they listen to. If it stirs you, moves you, shakes you, sways you, rolls you, rocks you, breaks you or makes you... it's good. Go, listen, have fun and add it to your experiences. If someone else says "Man he sucks, why would you go there?" all you gotta say is "Because I like livin'" I think people get too caught up in other people's lives that they forget they have one of their own to live.

If you're at the show in Raleigh, the wife & I will be right there havin' a blast..enjoying life for a couple hours without the stresses that come with it.

My "Am I a dork" question was more out of sarcasm/humor than a need for acceptance. :p

And for those that missed it, I'll be in the 3rd row tomorrow. The concert is in the south suburbs of Chicago at a huge outdoor amphitheater. :)

[IMG]. These are good seats, right? ;)

Though I do think I'm the only guy without plaid, flannel, a cowboy hat, or cowboy boots. No one told me there was a dress code! :p

As a rule, I hate country with the fire of a 1000 suns. But I have to admit, I do have a quilty love of this song

  11. So, do you feel like a dork this morning?

    Inquiring minds want to know!

Haha, no. The show was actually a lot of funs, and our seats were great. I only wish that the lights on stage didn't mess with my phone's camera too much to have gotten any really good pictures during the show. Thompson Square opened up, then Chris Young played, both did a good job, especially CY. And Jason Aldean put on a very good show. I would definitely have done it all over again. :)

Sounds like a good concert. You made a good decision. My husband likes country music...I don't. However, I've found that about any LIVE concert can be fun and enjoyable.

Life is too short to say "No" to something that you want to do. Flip a coin. Heads you go, tails you don't. When it is in the air, you will automatically think of what you want your choice to be.

    Borla, I glad you went.

I still think about the time I saw Waylon and Willie in concert. Country players can rock......
