Uh oh. The 3-1 Texans travel to play the 4-0 Vikings. The Texans performance at home against the Titans isn't inspiring confidence. But the Vikings four wins haven't been overly impressive, although eight sacks of Newton could spell trouble for Osweiler.

As years of rooting for Houston sports teams has taught me, I'm hoping for the best while expecting the worst.

I might have given the Bengals a chance at home, but something tells me the cowgirls will run the ball down the Bengals' defensive throat. And we're talking about the yo-yo Bengals.

Brady and the Pats are tearing it up today, albeit against the Browns.

I'm so disgusted by how Goodell and the NFL handled Deflategate. I've never been a huge Pats fan, but at this point I hope they dominate the rest of the season, win the SB, and Goodell has to hand over the SB MVP trophy to Brady.

    Houston, we have some problems.

24-14 would be much better than 24-6, but the Texans are still suffering from Settling For Field Goals Syndrome (SFFGS). Of course the play of the Vikings has lot to do with the score.

My wife says the Texans will come to win. Yes, I'm also laughing........but.......she has a knack for predicting comebacks in NFL games.

The Dolphins lost the lowly Titans (take that, Popeye).

    Phone posting sucks.

Was Kaepernick wise to restructure his contract--in favor of the 49ers--for the chance to play,

or should have he sat and collected paychecks?

Is Gabbert really as bad as his stats indicate?

    -------------------------------------

A couple of weeks ago I dug around on the net until I figured out how to compare QB stats side-by-side; I chose Eli Manning and Tony Romo.

    Wow.

If you ignore the POs and SBs, TR kicks EM's ass.

If you include POs and SBs, EM kicks TR's ass. And IMO, which could be totally wrong, EM did so when the Giants were overall inferior talent-wise to the cowgirls.

@ralphie250 are you going to pick this week? We all lost TNF so it's not too late. It may still let you.

The Texans defense bent, but didn't break, and the offense finally woke up to win the game. The missed PAT by Novak could've been disastrous. For now the Texans are the most buoyant turd in the AFC South.

    ----------------------------------------------

Normally I'm happy when the Lions manage a win, but they spoiled what was otherwise one of Keenum's best games.

Could have Aaron Rodgers played any worse? That's a redundant question, of course he could've played worse.

The Titans have quietly won a few games.

Vontaze Burfict should be suspended for the rest of the season IMO, or maybe even the next 16 games total. Look at his history. He was suspended the first three games of this year for dirty play, now he's barely back and already had multiple cheap shots at guys. That hit to Bennett could've destroyed his knee, and that clearly seemed to be the intent.

Per the NFL website, the Burfict hit will be reviewed, and a fine will be the expected/likely result.

It won't happen, but it'd be nice to see Burfict targeted for cheap hits every time he steps onto the field. Send him into early retirement with bad knees and/or a couple of soft spots on his brain.

Since my computer & the edit function are still fighting...

There was also an apparent leg stomp by Burfict.

    http://www.boston.com/sports/new-england-patriots/2016/10/18/video-burfict-stomp-blount-leg

Yes, Burfict needs to miss enough paychecks to get his attention, since missing three didn't teach him anything. If he can't change, bounce him out of the NFL.

$75k fine for Burfict. What a joke. Last time you suspend him for three games. Two games later he does it again, TWICE, and only a fine?

Goodell is responsible when Burfict shreds someone's knee or concussed them in a week or two.

The fine was for the leg stomp, that might not have occurred, or could've been unintentional (hopefully the NFL has some better footage of the incident than what is on the net right now), not the knee hit.

    WTF?

It's cool if you are caught on video trying to end a guy's career. But don't let Goodell even suspect you of letting some air out of a football....

Another Goodell mess re:Josh Brown's domestic abuse case:

    https://www.yahoo.com/sports/news/r...ls-handling-of-josh-brown-case-193702228.html

tl;dr cliffs - Goodell has gotten so much heat for inconsistent discipline that he instituted a new "6 game suspension, minimum" standard for anyone committing domestic abuse.
Josh Brown gets arrested for domestic abuse last year...............Goodell gives him one game off.
New details come out showing that NFL security have had to get involved to help protect Brown's wife and kids from him at NFL events. Brown's journal is full of entries about how he beat his wife.
Meanwhile Goodell fines a player $12,000 for pretending to take a basketball jump shot with the football after scoring a TD.

Can't remember any major league commissioner I've had such a low opinion of. And to think I used to believe there wouldn't be one worse than Bud Selig.

Any person male or female should be adjudicated according to the laws of the state in which their residence is established. Regardless of the crime or magnitude of such said crime. The work that they do should not be considered unless it is tied to the crime directly or inderictly. I don't expect people in the public eye to be roll models. I am not sure why as Americans we turn a blind eye to some and focus more on others unless it's all about power and money.
