Where to practice Archery
Hi, I wanted to know if anyone knew where I could learn/practice archery in the LA area or how to go about finding info on it. Thanks.
|
In LA? Sorry, not familiar with the area, but you might want to try a local community college and take a course if they offer it. That's a good start. As for specifics, sorry, can't help.

Rod and gun clubs have archery facilities around here. Try contacting one in your area.
I just use my back yard  |
Cool, thanks, I will give it a "shot"! NO backyard though, I live in the city.
Are you in LA? Which facilities do you recommend? Thanks. |
I'm in British Columbia...way up in Canada, so I can't help you find one in your area.
Look for a place that has a "3D shooting area"..it's lots of fun...are you going to be hunting or just target? |
Eldorado Park in Long Beach has (or had) a very nice archery range. There appears to be a club that uses the facilities and could probably offer more information here is their info:
EL DORADO ARCHERS (NAA) El Dorado Park Spring St/605 Freeway Long Beach, CA FREE ARCHERY INSTRUCTION Saturday Classes * Age 8-18 * Adults welcome For more information, call: Aletha Donathan, Head Archery Instructor 714-895-0193(w) 562-924-8880(h) THIS (click here) website has a list of southern california archery clubs and ranges |
Thanks you guys, all the info is very useful.
I am interested just because I think it a cool "sport", skill set to have. |
It's a lot of fun. I got my archery merit badge in Boy Scouts way back when. Tons of fun qualifying for it.

I'll throw my voice in for checking local gun clubs. I have to get back into archery, I tripled my high school's total number and percentage of total bullseye records in gym class a few years ago :)
|
Try Prado gun club. it is open to the public and they have archery as well. It is located in ontario.

Hey you guys, I just wanted to say thanks again! Especially the SoCal people for trying to help.
I actually live in LA (without a car! can you believe it?) so some of the suggestions were a 'bit' out of reach. But, I found a beginners class at my school(college) so I signed up for this semester! *yay* Thanks again everyone, I will report back in a few weeks and tell everyone how it's going. |
