Mozambique Double tap?
can someone explain this to me? Googling it didnt get me any specific answers ...
Why is it called Mozambique double tap? What is it ? its from a book btw- but it has to do with guns so.. any help would be appreciated |

it's actually the "mozambique drill"...and it goes "two in the chest, one in the head, always leaves the badguy dead."
The idea is shoot the badguy twice in the chest to kill him, but make sure that he stays dead with the headshot, in case he's got body armor on. At least that's how I learned it many moons ago... |

Col Jeff Cooper also draws the distinction between a "double tap" and a "controlled pair."
A "double tap" is two rounds fired in rapid succession after sighting the target only once. The modern defensive pistol technique (or "Mozambique") does NOT advocate the "double tap." Instead it teaches two shots fired - each one sighted properly but with speed. This is what's known as a "controlled pair." |
