Kershaw Speedsafe Legality

I've been looking at the Speedsafe Kershaw knives and I'd really like to buy one. I'm not looking into one for personal defense or anything, it's just I could use a pocket knife, and the ability to open it quick, easy, and with one hand would be a major convienience. However, I live in Wisconsin, one of the most uptight states when it comes to possible concealed weapons, illegal knives, etc.

I've looked for about two solid hours and I can't find a specific site that says if the knives using Speedsafe are legal in the state of Wisconsin. I've found the actual law, and it seems it is legal, but I would prefer to be sure than to be busted big time by some asshole cop.

If anyone could help me out I'd be greatly appreciative

The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!"

I'm betting you'd get in trouble for it. Most switchblade laws ban knives that open with a push of a button on the handle, WI law just specifies a spring.

I've been searching for a way around it or possibly some first hand cases in Wisconsin, but finding a real first hand case on a knife law in Wisconsin is like trying to find a needle on the bottom of the pacific ocean.

Oh well, thanks for the info guys.

my understanding on the kershaw knife is that they by-pass switch blade and centrifical force laws as you have to physicaly touch the blade to start the opening process. This allowed us to sell them to the general public at teh store i worked at, while the real switch blades could only be sold to law enforcement agents. Course i'm outa texas so damn near everything is legal here when it comes to knives and guns.

You are correct about why it is legal in Texas, but his state's laws ban anything using a spring.

ya know what, you need to look into the emerson wave knives, they open without springs or anything, it just catches the corner of your pocket as you pull it out, opening the blade as the handle comes up, better than a switchblade, IMO.
