CO2 will remain liquid when cold, won't expand uniformly, and is unreliable in general. If Liquid CO2 gets into your gun, a valve will explode. This is why you should have an anti-siphon valve and expansion chamber if you're playing in anything under 70° (just to be safe.) The exception to this is TIppmann markers, which have a special valve (whose name I can't remember ATM,) that prevents liquid CO2 from blowing up your internals.

Nitro is the most stable, won't expand in heat, and costs the most. The stability results in less air-chopping, better accuracy, and better range because you don't have to worry about a pressure spike throwing you above the 280fps limit, so you can keep the pressure higher. Compressed air is almost the same as nitro, except that it's less pure and you may get a bit of water vapor in your marker.

Post more questions if you have them, I'll answer what I can, and our other paintballers can probably help. If you need more advice than we can give, and you don't mind being flamed and called a "n00b" by 13-year-olds, head to www.pbforum.com (I'm MSD over there)

okay...im 24 years old now...i was big into paintball when i was 16-17...had all my own gear...

i started with a n00b gun the stringray....went to the spyder (which never worked and i returned it) now i have a tippman prolight....

today i went to play paintball in a walkon group with a bunch of guys that had pretty expensive looking guns that shot alot farther and straighter then mine...

i used a rental gun a tippman 98 it shot about 30 feet b4 loosing all accuracy.....it was just a horrible experience...

im pretty athletic and let me tell you today was just an embarrassment.....i was getting picked off by guys that look like they couldnt run more than 20 feet without stopping for a hotdog...

i still have fun but...it was frustrating not be able to get any kills

so really im looking for a nice gun and tank combo for around 400 bucks hopefully much cheaper....

a friend of mine has a icon? i saw it for about 130 bucks...i think he said he can toggle it to either f/a or a couple round burst and he said its pretty accurate

my main goal is to get something that is easy to maintain or needs little maintance....

and is pretty accurate at a distance....

any suggestions

Piranha... go for an eforce with a comp air system
It would cost about 300 canadian, prob 200 range american
...if you have a couple extra bucks, get a smart parts progressive barrel to go with it, maybe 50.00

www.pbnation.com that is a good one IMO i frequent there alot. lots of info...tips and such.

your tippmann should shoot as far as any marker out there. just goto the chrono station and make sure you are shooting around the 300fps mark and you should do fine. i started with a spyder last year and now im running a 2k2 Intimidator. both run great. for $400 i would look into an Impulse if i were you. they are great, easy to maintain and look after.

I'd say a well-maintained 98 Custom with a J&J Full Tilt ceramic barrel, a regulator, an expansion chamber, and a butt plate for the tank should be able to put PMI Big Balls in a pretty tight circle at 30-50 yards.

The whole setup should be in the mid to upper 200's
