Shooting ranges in NJ/NYC/Eastern PA?
 

Does anyone know of a good shooting range in this area? I'm primarily looking for a shooting range that has rifles - don't really care about handguns. I head off to Army Basic in a few months, and have never fired a gun before. I just want to practice before I head of. Thanks

As to shooting, you don't really need to. The arms portion of Basic is taught on the premise that you've never touched a gun before. Frankly, anything you might learn in the time you have remaining may have to be unlearned once you get there.

Remember, there are two ways of doing anything: the right way, and the Army Way.

You should talk to your recruiter, he or she might be able to get you onto Piccatinany Arsenal (I think they have a rifle range) for a pre-basic tour of some sort.

This almost went over my head. I was going to substitute Army for my prefered branch until I read it four or five times. I will refrain from doing so, but rest assured the substitutionvcould still be made :)

That's a good call. I might be able to check that out on my own. I have a CAC and should be able to get on Piccatiny on my own merit. I'll let you know how it turns out.
