I use a Kershaw Ken Onion "Random Task" Mdl1510ST. Haven't waned another knife to carry on me since. I have bought others, just not to carry for an all around knife. They cost $100-$110.

Hoo yeah. I carry a Kershaw Lockbade on my belt (4" blade) and I'm constantly being asked those same questions. Funny thing is those same people are the ones that come to me when they can't get a package open, need to cut a rope, strip a wire, insert basic sharp object task here. I'll bet they'd appreciate it if I used it to cut their seatbelt to get them out of a car wreck as well. Knives have many (read : MOSTLY) legitimate uses. We live in a world of paranoia. As for a weapon, the guy carrying a baseball bat in his car has a better offensive weapon than me.
