CCW in Bar's issue

What do you think of it? Most states say you can not carry your weapon in an establisment that sells alchol for consumption on premsis. But they also say its a felony to be caught drnking while carrying. Now wouldnt it make sense to allow carry in bars. As if you drink you are in trouble. But if you need your weapon and you are the DD...you dont have it.

I think that you should be able to carry. You are in a situation that may warrent your weapon more so than elsewhere. and you already are in trouble if you do drink, more so than if you just get caught carrying. I know alot of people that scoff at that rule usual, and i do feel safer around them. That they risk getting caught carrying in bars, which is at most loose your permit type of penalty. Since they arent drinking at all not a felony. Stupid laws that go against our rights....

If it were up to me, the law would be like this: If you plan to have more than one drink, you shouldn't have a weapon on you. If you decide to have another, put it in the trunk of your car or have the designated driver hold it. If you're the designated driver, go ahead and carry.

Alcohol and dangerouse objects, whether they're guns, cars, knives, or anything else that requires full mental ability to control should not be used while intoxicated.

yea definatly dont need to be around weapons and intoxicating substances. while its common for some of my friends to have a few beers before we shoot, i really dont like that practice. or the one that keeps telling me about how he shoots long distance for groups better when he had poped a few blue valiums and had a beer or two....back in the day. no thank you.

i just hate some of the antiquated and liberal made laws that we have to fight against to retain our rights

Um, I don't think we need to allow CCW holders to carry in bars: There is really only one reason to go to a bar (drinking), they are usually crowded, which would mean a firearm would be more or less useless, and the crowds also mean a higher chance of getting bumped into and your weapon being noticed.

However, I think we should be able to carry into a restaurant, as long as we don't drink and stay out of the bar proper.

I walk to most of the restaurants in town, and I often end up having to walk home in order to disarm before walking to the restaurant.

Not a fan of having them in bars... there are enough by standers to break up a fight... if there aren't then your in the wrong damn bar!

consealed weapons in bars is a BAAAAAD idea. If you pull that out, yoiu had better be ready to shoot.

Alcohol + guns = a vastly increased chance of fatality

I'm a gun-rights type of guy. I own firearms, have been a shooter for years, and possess a CCW. I don't think that no guns in bars is a freedom issue, it's a public safety issue that even the most dyed in the wool gun rights activist should be able to see.

Your ownership of that gun is a right. Your ability to carry it concealed is a priviledge.

I myself am of the opinion that the same principle should be applied that is used for driving: if you are over a certain limit then no, you should not be carrying.

Under that limit, and you are fine.
