New Electronic Weapons

Thought some people might be interested in some new weapons an Aussie and his company are developing. Theres quite a few movies on the site, very interesting. They state their weapons can fire 1 Million rounders per minute, thats insane! Check em out...

Yea i saw a show about these on the History Channel a couple weeks ago; they are very impressive! They showed one of the guns shooting off the million or so rounds and it literally happened in a second or two not minutes!

Apparently what they do is they have multiple rounds stacked into the barrels and electronically set them off miliseconds from each other or something like that.

I hope our government is looking into these for defense, they could prove to be very deadly on the battlefield.

that is incredible.. you would definitely not want to be on the recieving end of that in full auto...

I am now officially a draft dodger.. now way Im stepping onto a field with one of those, even if they are mine, friendly fire kills too!

Dam straight you could! If you watch all the movies on the site, some of them show normal-day, practical uses, such as putting out fires. Also the movie about the landmine field, thats pretty cool. No more abandoned mine fields, these things just pack and and go. No way would I want to be in front of any of these!

Damnit you beat me to it watched the same show and everything but to answer your question we do have our own kind of these suckers their a little different in physical features but operate on the same principle of stacked ammunition and being electronically fired

*edit* download an audio file of one of these things firing it sounds like a long zipper... reminds me of german MG-42

Yeah We went back to caseless ammunition. Went a few steps foward and backward at the same time. They will also eliminate mine feilds so nomore worries about deadly mines left behind. It will do as much saving as it will destruction i think its a great idea.

Wow, those vids are amazing. Now we have something to hold off the Posleen!

The non-combat uses are great, innovative. The combat uses leave me non-plussed.

Organ guns (row of barrels side by side, like pipes on an organ, except horizontal) have been in use for quite some time (pre-Napoleonic era) and were used to put massive amounts of fire downrange at once. Sort of the pre-cursor to the machine gun. It was a neat idea, but took forever to reload. I wonder if these guns, essentially nothing more than complex organ guns, also have similar reload issues. If so, combat utility is minimal.

In essence, I see this as an interesting design that will likely only be successfully used for specific applications. I cannot see this technolgy becoming mainstream for far too many reasons.
