could you remain this calm in there situation?
http://www.toddrocks.biz/LancasterBomberfighterkill.wav
its from a ww2 british bomber crew that well.....you'll see..... very cool imho |
you might get a slow download speed but believe me its worth it....
|
hah wow, thats awesome, is it authentic?
|
i think it is....i forget what forum i got it from but there was a discussion whether or not it was real....
someone questioned that the brits called one of the positions other than what it was called in that wav file....but the overall feeling was that it was in fact real..... |
That seems pretty authentic but I don't have really good hearing and for me listening to old audio is a problem and that is true for British people too so adding both togather is bad. But nevertheless I've heard video that sound like that and having just about the same outcome. The thing that scared me was I didn't see how long it was so I thought they were going to say they shot down their own fighter since they said "No I didn't get a confirmation on the plane."
|
i have been looking around for similiar wav files....anyone have any urls?
|
Is there a transcript of this anywhere? For the life of me, I could barely understand a word they were saying.
|
Yea.....
I didn't really understand what was going on |
i could prolly type it up.....i understand them pretty clearly
|
Hmm, seems odd that they would refer to the Pilot (I persume ?) as "skipper".
I mean a sea captain is usually refered to as "skipper", I've never heard a pilot being called that. |
At the time this recording was made, those men had likely made hundreds of flights. Of course they were calm, it's not like the plane is on fire or anything =)
A friend's father was a helicopter pilot in the Viet Nam War running pilot retrieval and med-evac. He was shot down 23 times in his three tours, 8 times in one day. I have NEVER seen him get excited over anything. |
my father did two tours in viet nam in the infantry nothing these days can cause him to panic at all i can easily see how these older sunding men can go trough something like that with ease now for the question at hand i would have to say no i probably would shit my pants

Remain calm? What else are you going to do at 5,000 feet? Shit your pants and start screaming like a little school girl? You have to wait until after the mission to do that.
|
yeah if i had been up there and that happened with one of my first missions then i woulda shit myself. however like it has been stated after a while it gets to be normal and you kinda get desensitized in a way. kinda like movie violence. if you had seen saving pvt ryan back when you were 10 or so it woulda scared the shit outa you but after the age of say 16 your pretty use to violence so its really not that big of a deal unless you can actually realize that people went through this in real life. then it hits ya still.
