TFP Bear Hunters Patch

Hey All,

Found an online firm that does custom patches:

Custom Patches

So, to amuse me, and to take a break from the suck of law school, I sketched up a bear hunter patch:

http://x19.xanga.com/304e1a140723427...b216930549.jpg

Figured it would be a Ghostbusters like patch, with a red 'no-smoking' type of X, along with a TAR-21 on the bottom.

Top says, "Bear Hunters Club"

Bottom says, "With a Tavor Strapped to my Thigh"

Thoughts? Input? Photoshop mockups?

Everyone cool with Velcro hook backing on the patch?

:D

ChrisJericho 09-21-2010 01:26 AM

Hook backing will be necessary. Also if we could integrate the Israeli flag into the patch somehow that would be great since the main reason the TAR-21 is so effective against bears isn't due to the caliber size, accuracy or any other specifications but rather because it was designed in Israel and is therefore ultra deadly.

Pearl Trade 09-21-2010 01:04 PM

Should there be a dog reference as well? Or are you just hitting on one issue that was presented, the bear?

How this video was not brought up before, I have no idea.

Oh, someone got to what I was going to say before I did. Maybe we should work the Desert Eagle in as a backup gun. You know, just in case.

Plan9 09-21-2010 10:32 PM

I'll work on my concept sketch when I get off shift. I need to sleep.

The_Jazz 09-22-2010 04:58 AM

Can we include a pitbull that wasn't stopped by a .45? Or one that's being choked out?

Walt 09-22-2010 07:08 AM

Sure. But thats a different patch all together.

Pearl Trade 09-22-2010 12:25 PM

Two patches. One for the bear and one for the unstoppable ("easily killed," as he said) pitbull.

The Proof. What do you guys think? They're asking about $20/ea. Kind of pricey.

Going to have to ask them to spell Tavor correctly. And that looks like a British L85A1?

Plan9 09-28-2010 09:58 AM

Dammit, Jim. My duct tape internet isn't loading the image. I pay $100 a month for this?!

Daniel_ 09-28-2010 10:18 AM

Grammar point.

"Bears Hunter's Club" should be "Bear Hunters' Club"

Plan9 09-28-2010 10:23 AM

Sweet patch. Hunters', check. And yeah, that's a L85 not the Israeli beast-slayer. It needs a TFP logo, though.

Supply the company with a picture of a Tavor and insert a TFP on the "Bear Hunter's Club" maybe?

LordEden 09-28-2010 05:04 PM

I want on this wagon, I'm sure I can find the cash to pony up for one.

ChrisJericho 09-28-2010 10:03 PM

Yeah they need to put TFP in there and get the gun right, if the $20 includes shipping I would do it.

Unfortunately there may be an even better weapon against bears than a Tavor... and that is a large, thick zucchini:

Mont. woman fends off bear attack with zucchini | KOMO News | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News - Seattle, Washington | Offbeat

"FRENCHTOWN, Mont. (AP) - Police say a Montana woman used an unlikely weapon to fend off a charging bear - a zucchini.

Missoula County Sheriff's Lt. Rich Maricelli says a 200-pound black bear attacked the woman's 12-year-old collie just after midnight Wednesday on the back porch of her home about 15 miles west of Missoula.

When the woman, whom police did not name, screamed to draw the bear's attention, it charged her and swiped at her leg.

Maricelli says the woman jumped back into the doorway and reached for the nearest object on her kitchen counter - a 12-inch zucchini from her garden.

The woman flung the vegetable at the bear, striking it on top of the head and causing it to flee.

Maricelli says the woman did not need medical attention. Wildlife officials were trying to locate the bear on Thursday."

Hektore 09-28-2010 10:50 PM

That was a black bear.

:grumpy:

We hunt Grizzlies here on TFP.

//edit: TFP green for the background instead of white?

KirStang 09-29-2010 01:56 AM

The price of the patches is something like $18.73, I figured I'd ask for $20 each so I could include shipping.

Unfortunately, I need a minimum of 6 for them to produce.

1.) KirStang
2.) Plan9
3.) Lord Eden
4.) Chris Jericho
5.) Walt
6.) The Dunedan

You guys have paypal? I'll front the money after we get a revised proof we can all agree on.

Requested Changes so far:
1.) "TFP" inserted
2.) "Hunters'"
3.) Tavor spelled right
4.) A TAR-21 instead of an SA80.

Hektore, I think the white would look better in the background. Would that work for you?

Plan9 09-29-2010 03:50 AM

Motherfuckers better pay up. If I don't have one of these on my armor before my long weekend I'm going to be pissed.

LordEden 09-29-2010 07:41 AM

I won't be able to fork up the dough this payday, but I can allocate it from next weeks check.

Walt 09-29-2010 09:01 AM

Ha. I'm in.

I'm not really a patch kinda guy. It more more of a thinking out loud suggestion as an alternative to sticking TFP in there somewhere.

Plan9 09-29-2010 09:32 AM

Lemme know when the new proof is ready. It should be posted here.

The_Dunedan 09-29-2010 09:46 AM

I'm in.

Plan9 09-29-2010 09:58 AM

The circle is complete.

Hektore 09-29-2010 10:42 AM

Don't forget "bear" instead of "bears"

Plan9 09-29-2010 10:49 AM

Good call. I had hoped that was a given along with Tavor but seeing that this company can't spell on a proof I certainly hope this patch is worth $20.

Kir, might be a good idea to draft up crude corrections using some lines and text in MSPaint.

KirStang 09-29-2010 12:01 PM

Good catch. I would have totally gotten stuffed on that.

It's $18.83 ea./ for 6, and something like $10.55ea. for 12. So. The more we get, the less expensive it is. (Or, we could, get 12 people, pay $20 each, excess costs go to TFP to support the forum or something like that. Just doesn't feel right selling something here without giving back to the forum).

The new proof is here, but, I do not like how they just threw on the TAR. I can't believe they put 'Bears' on the first proof. Jesus. Look like they're hiring middle schoolers who know how to photoshop.

Please, please, please don't necropost this thread:

http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/tilted-...eir-power.html

It may go the way of the pitbull thread if you revive it.

G5_Todd 09-29-2010 01:15 PM

okay, i didnt read any of the debates but i got a kick out of the initial question lol

ring 09-29-2010 02:32 PM

I admit I would eat a whole box of organic, gluten-free cereal to find this prize at the bottom.

Passive-aggressive? Yeah, most likely.

KirStang 09-29-2010 02:34 PM

Also, from this thread: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/tilted-...ml#post2815821

Around Post #175

Pearl Trade 09-29-2010 02:52 PM

Digging up the dirt, eh? I can't say I'm against it. Carry on.

I'm liking the good memories being brought back.

KirStang 10-01-2010 05:42 AM

Does anyone else want in on this? I'll submit the final order using the proof in post #26 on Monday morning.

Plan9 10-01-2010 05:49 AM

Want!

I'll do some action shots with it tacked to my hat.

I don't have a Tavor, though. Just old school stuff.

In my opinion you probably have to a bit too much into guns to think this is funny.

Of course an assault rifle could kill a bear.

I like guns (mainly because they go bang), but I couldn't tell you the difference between a bullet and a trigger. So I think this thread is golden.

Let's try not to beat a dead horse, alright, Strange? Though it would be entertaining to see that go down...

Plan9 10-03-2010 10:02 AM

I hear tale that the IMI Uzi is perfect for dead horses.

MSD 10-03-2010 12:50 PM

This thread is the best thread.

Strange Famous 10-03-2010 01:32 PM

since its partly in my honour, I'll buy one if you have some way of sending funds like paypal or google or whatever btw
