Kimber Eclipse pro II

I'm thinking of selling my Kimber Eclipse Pro II along with 4 mags and a mag well. It's 3 years old and I've shot aproximately 2,500 rounds through it. I'm asking and have an offer for $700. I paid $1010 for it. Is my selling price too low, or just right?

Also I should add that the reason I'm selling it is that I want a full size 1911 with an ambi safety. I will almost certainly be buying another kimber.

Check out the price of similar guns GunBroker.com and compare. Be realistic.

I checked on Gunbroker last night and did not see anything. I'm sure the Dunedan will know more than I, but for reference, a new USP goes for $800 and used goes for $600 depending on condition (or even $750 if it's in great condition). So, IMHO: Well used = 3/4th of the value, where as new is probably more like 1/10th (I see used HK45s going for 900/$950 and mine priced at $810 sold in a heartbeat).

Well I've got the gun sold for $700. Meeting the guy tomorrow to finalize.

I've narrowed my new gun down to either the Raptor II, CDP II, or the Super Carry. The only thing I don't like about the CDP is that it's mag capacity is only 7. Can I use an 8 round mag? If so will it still sit flush, or stick out?

Plan9 05-09-2010 08:56 PM

It depends if the grip length is Officer (compact) or GI (regular). Example: I had an old Officer 1911 that held 6 (7 with a better mag).

Flush? I believe most high end full size 1911 8-round mags feature a baseplate that will extend beyond the well, but the mag tube will not.

I plan on installing a magwell anyway so I guess it doesn't really matter if the mag isn't flush.

Well, I ended up buying a Kimber Tactical Entry II. This gun just looked and felt awesome, and had everything I wanted already on the gun(night sights, ambi safety, magwell). I put about 200 rounds through it so I've still got a while till it's properly "broke in", but it shot great. 3in groups at 20 yards right out the box ain't bad.

If I can figure out how to post pictures from my cell phone I'll let you all see it.

How is the gun? The two 1911s I have both had to have work to function 100%. I remember specfically not purchasing a Kimber because a lot of people reported lemons. Have they fixed that?

rahl 05-11-2010 05:04 PM

This is my second kimber and I've yet to have a problem. I heard people had some problems for a short while when they switched to the external extractor, but since then I've not heard of any complaints. Are there better 1911's out there? Sure, but With Kimber I think you get more bang for your buck so to speak. I'd love a wilson combat or an ed brown, but I can't justify paying $2,500+ for something that the vast majority of shooters can't tell a difference in. I paid just over $1,300 for this one, it came with night sigts, ambi safety, and a mag well. If I got the cheapest les baer, or ed brown, I'd have paid $2,000 for it and had to add all the extra's I wanted. I know some people have pet peaves about MIM parts, but honestly I defy your average shooter to be able to tell the difference.

Yeah, I should refrain from commenting in a 1911 thread. I'm a total gun anti-snob.

A Glock 34 shoots as well as it ever will out the box and 3000 rounds later.

But it will never point as well as a 1911 or have that super trigger either. :D

....Did I just start a (already beat to death) 1911 v. Glock hijack?

Plan9 05-12-2010 06:46 PM

Yeah, let's not do that. Although it would be a fun exercise here at TFP. Much smaller brain pool.

And we all know: 99% of the time... the user performs below the level where the high end equipment matters.

So now I need a good IWB holster that will fit the rail. The one I carried my eclipse in is too short and won't accomodate the rail. Any suggestions? Something less than $100 would be nice. I checked on a couple milt sparks, but just not willing to pay that much.
