Probably 80% of our business is through GunBroker. It's the largest of the online gun-sales sites, and for most modern stuff the "quickest," with the most bids and best prices. AuctionArms does better with older sporting arms and high-end surplus (but only pre-Vietnam) collector pieces. The risk of deadbeat bidders and general dipshits is higher on GB, but that's natural considering the much larger volume as opposed to AuctionArms or GunsAmerica. For what you're describing, GB would be the best bet.
If you need to get it sold NOW, the only way will be a No Reserve auction. Since Sept. 08, the market for sporting rifles (esp. oddball calibers) has totally collapsed. Used guns selling No Reserve still do fairly well, but otherwise you'll be sat on that auction, charged fees every time it relists, for weeks. If you absolutely -must- have a certain price for it, best bet would probably be to "shop it around" to varmint hunters in your area. Try researching the weapon on GB, see what they're currently selling for. If you think you can live it that average figure (and I'd knock 20% off to be conservative), go for it. |
