Sexy-party kit aside, this is what I keep handy:

Benelli M1 Super 90 Tactical w/ extended tube, Surefire forearm, 6 round side saddle, Imp-Mod choke, GG&G oversized bolt knob and GG&G ghost ring night sights. It's loaded with standard 2 3/4" 00 buckshot.

SSJTWIZTA 04-23-2009 04:42 PM

I need a camera!

nothing on the nightstand but a cheap assed survival knife.

leaning against it, however, is a browning 3 inch magnum. (i have it set to take 12 ga. shells at the moment, seeing how im out of the heavy ammo.)

If all of that fails..just beat them to death with Atlas Shrugged, it weighs enough.

Don't let StrangeFamous see that IMI Jericho. Ergh, he'll pop a boner the size of the Texas panhandle.

I'm just trying to figure out what the hell the Latex Gloves are for.

...stop it! Ya'll are just joking right? Where do you all live that you would live in this kind of fear? The most deadly weapon that ever finds it's way to MY nightstand is my nail file. Well, my town WAS listed as the safest town in America, which probably gives me a false sense of security, but still. Why not just have some pepper spray? Or is this thread all about boys and their toys?

...who here has ever had anyone break into their home while they're there...ever

.

Plan9 05-11-2009 08:07 AM

Probably boys and their toys. Although, really... we have other threads that better cater to that kinda thing. I think the Gun Porn thread is best for that.

Hmm, I'm thinking we need a TFP-lingerie-clad-girlfriends-with-guns thread. Maybe make a nice calendar out of it. Oooh, I'm gettin' kinda worked up here.

Turns out the majority of us responsible gun owners live without fear. Perhaps more so than our unarmed counterparts. We know we can defend ourselves.

If something bad should ever happen, I'll be well prepared whereas an unarmed homeowner may be hiding under the bed with a cell phone hoping for the bad guy to leave, hoping they don't get stabbed/shot/beaten/raped, hoping for the cops to show up quicker, hoping they don't pee der pants, etc.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Military wisdom of the ages: Hope isn't a policy.

biznatch 05-14-2009 04:54 AM

My dog. Not on my nightstand, but usually either on the bed or next to it. He likes to keep his eyes on the door. I think he'd be pretty damn effective as a weapon, even though I'm not saying I view him as one. I need to upload pics of this thing with it's mouth open, but just so you get a general idea, his head's bigger than mine.

Fire 05-19-2009 08:58 AM

yeah, shell, I have had a person try to break in while I was here, though I tend to think they did not realize it- all I had was a sword, and they ran away, but had they been so inclined and armed with a gun, I would be dead as hell instead of posting this- I have also had thirteen (yes, 13) cops in my back yard chasing a car jacker, while my wife was 7 months pregnant, as well as 3 foot chases through my yard..... there have been three home invasions within 2 blocks of me in the past 2 years, A year ago I chased a guy out of my back yard...(he had an empty pillow case so I guess he was "shopping")..... So, yeah, I tend to think I am not exactly being paranoid here.... (strange thing is that other than the home invasion down the street, its really been quiet, most of the trouble comes from people fleeing the cops from a few blocks away.....)

LordEden 05-19-2009 10:44 AM

No nightstand, but under/beside my bed I have; 2 Condoms, 1 9mm pistol (which I haven't fired being the bad gun owner I am), the book of the week, toilet paper and a lamp.

Near the bed I have my chef knifes that I keep razor sharp, but I would hate to use those in an fight. Seeing how they have cut me on a regular basis, I'm guessing they would be useful in that situation.

Nope.

Where do you all live that you would live in this kind of fear?
The World. It's a dangerous place. I live in a bit known as Bumfuck Dipshit Appalachia. Lotsa meth-headed White Trash, with more recently a smattering of MS-13 and Latin Kings thrown in for fun. Besides which, my decision to be armed is no more a reaction to fear than is my decision to keep a fire-extinguisher in my car. Better to have and not need, after all...

I can help you with that. No woman has any business being unarmed.

Quote:

Why not just have some pepper spray?
Because I don't feel inclined to trust my life to a tin of seasoning which frequently doesn't work thanks to incidental, accidental, or intentional prior exposure, PCP use, drunkenness, etc, which is easily fired at onesself under stress (not so with a pistol), and which has an expiration date. As Calvin once so wisely put it; "never take chances on a product which prints the date you might expire." Besides all this, someone who breaks into my home while I'm in it is posing a serious threat, and has no good reason to continue breathing my air.

Quote:

ME. Had somebody try to break into my house several years ago while I and my then-girlfriend were upstairs. The dog scared him away, but Step #2 was the Mossberg 12ga. If the dog hadn't been there, the 12ga would have been Step #1.

Strange Famous 05-19-2009 02:55 PM

I checked my bedside cabinet just now:

a pornographic DVD (Beauty and the Butch Vol 4)
Cell phone

Xerxys 05-19-2009 06:20 PM

Just got a nightstand ...

Lamp, condoms, cell phone, a book by tom clancy I forgot what it's called cause I'm only reading it to improve my grammar.

... /feels so grown up posting here!!

Plan9 05-19-2009 07:17 PM

Uh, this thread is in the Tilted Weaponry category for a reason guys. C'mon, now... work with me, people.

Not a genius, but I'm guessing the discussion is designed to focus on weapons kept next to the bed in case of a burglary / home invasion / zombie apocalypse.

Perhaps someone should generate a thread in a different TFP drawer to deal with mundane shit.

...

StrangeFamous... did you steal that DVD from my collection? My copy is missing! That and Pixies with Uzis.

I dont live in the States, and so it isnt for to say how true this is - but it really depressed me. Even if we can accept that men must be armed for self protection - as a society, as a civilised world, what has it come to that even some people who are rational and sane consider that even a woman must carry arms? Surely it should not come to this...

In terms of has my house ever been broken into - yes twice but not while I was in it, and I have a three foot length of copper piping by the bed that I could lay my hand on if it was really required, but I'd only swing at a guys knee's unless he was armed too. If he had a gun obviously I wouldnt resist, if he had a knife Id probably aim for the face...

Ring, love it, def love it soo much!!

Cromps: That's what the cell phone is for. I need to dial moomy, ya know!!

No, I have no weapons and I'm thinking I should actually swallow my rage and get one or go the way of the ring and get a nightstick.

Fire 05-20-2009 05:41 PM

the idea that both men and women have no business being unarmed is in no way uncivilized, in fact, it is a true mark of civilization and personal responsibility to be armed- being armed, and properly trained in the use of weapons, states clearly that you have taken responsibility for your personal safety, and are willing and able to defend the lives and health of your loved ones..... there is in my opinion nothing that better recommends a civilization than that its members feel that way........

An interesting combination of assumption and wishful thinking, especially considering the source.

You're a violent dude, StrangeFamous. You've seen what can happen from nothing.

blahblah454 05-22-2009 05:02 PM

A water bottle, a book, and a lamp.

The throwing axes are near the front door in the basement.... maybe I should move those.

So is the rifle.

Strange Famous 08-01-2009 11:04 AM

A radio alarm clock
3 pornographic DVDs (The Violation of Kate Frost: A lesbian gangbang, Blue Dreams, Office Girls)
A Nike Headband

A music CD (Alternative Times vol 68)

:)
Well this single dad doesn't believe in bringing a knife to a gunfight! LOL

I live in Texas, so with a concealment permit I wouldn't exactly say "on my nightstand", but I'll stick with my S&W Police Special .357 'Roscoe'!
Haven't photographed it yet......:)

Belligerentkj 08-29-2009 12:44 PM

I keep my Kimber TLE/RL II Tactical & Streamlight Strion at hand.

Sue 08-30-2009 12:12 PM

So as far as nightstands go, I don't have a gun. I have a lamp, the last 3 of the Twilight books, my alarm clock, and 2 pictures of my boyfriend.

Strange Famous 08-30-2009 01:17 PM

A box cutter
A book of Algernon Blackwood ghost stories
A deck of playing cards
About £6 change
An empty glass
A small vase with some flowers in (dont know what type, theyre white) - my girlfriend put them there
