I do, it's a very reliable weapon for me and I feel like the balance works well. Even though I seldom get out to shoot it, I find I can still be pretty accurate with it. May get a .40 sometime too.

When do you clean a gun? After every use, of course. Fits the whole "I wipe my backside every time I crap" vibe. While the Glock is arguably one of the best designed, more durable, most heavily tested pistols on the planet... it still needs a little TLC simply because it is an autoloading handgun that utilizes a magazine. Cleaning the gun after each use prevents the heavy accumulation of carbon anyway, making the immediate cleaning quicker and immensely easier than cleaning it once every five range trips.
I use standard FMJ ammunition available at any gun shop, Wal-Mart, K-Mart. Avoid using solid lead ammunition (reloads) in Glocks due to the rifling. The Glock will digest any commercial ammunition you put through it. Avoid steel and aluminum cased rounds. Avoid a heavy diet of +P rounds. |

Steyrs are what will land you sloppy deep throat from Jessica Alba. Why else would I own one?
Oh, and as far as IMI is concerned, the 941 was the preferred weapon of Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop. How's that to instantly up the cool-factor of a weapon?

Some find the M92FS too big for the cartridge it shoots and proves to be a minor hassle for concealed carry if you're a skinny guy. The new 17+1 round magazines make it just as appealing as a Glock if you like a full-metal handgun.
And... M1911s... polished relics that somehow remain crowd-pleasers. ... Wanna sell your Glock 26? |

In regard to the OP, I have a Glock 19 and I love it. The 9mm ammo is cheap, it's fun to shoot at the range, and makes for a nice home defense weapon. I also went with some tritium night sights and couldn't be happier. I suggest this conversion kit though. It converts the 19 from a 9mm round to a 22 LR. It's cheap as hell to shoot, and blowing through the 10 round clip is a blast. The best part is there's no FFL required so it can be shipped to your door. |

The automatics are reliable and inexpensive, but they're just UGLY. Good fightin' guns, but definitely not winners in any fashion contest. Really... all Ruger products are like that. The have a new single-stack polymer .45 which is very impressive... but it's clunky and doesn't do anything a Glock or XD or M&P won't do. |

oh yeah, i wouldnt mind owning one of those. it doesnt look that bad at all. actually it looks rather "solid" if you get me.
the only real ruger pistols i have any experience with are the rim fires that kind of resemble the old wwII german lugers.

That's why I went out looking for an old style S-series. complete with the Garand style safety. It works incredibly well, I gotta say. ...now if I can just find an M-357 of the same era... (though I must admit, the new Mannox finish they're putting out is sexy as hell. CDNN will just need to get rid of all the pistols previously liquidated, so Steyr can import at a price respective of the pistol's quality. It also doesn't bode well with the falling dollar/rising euro trend happening now... I really hope they can find a market O_o)

Yeah, I liked the idea of the original safety as well.
Mannox, eh? 100% corrosion resistant? DAMN IT. The Tennifer finish I've got is only 99% corrosion resistant. This blows.

I've seen these pictures before. Partially supported chamber, blah-blah. Forgetting that decimal point at the powder stage on the reloading bench? Does it every time. Thin walls of the barrel unzip and the gun goes "OH NO!" ... The ammunition constraints of the Glock pistol are dictated by how light and fast it is designed to operate. The way the round is supported in the thin chamber is designed for light weight and speed, not durability to ammunition out of standard SAAMI ranges (or within, in the case of the Model 20 in 10mm, which had nasty rumors of breaking). Another fine example of this is in the difference between the Winchester 94 in .30-30 and the Marlin 336 in .30-30. Both of these lever action rifles are designed to shoot the same exact same rather tame .30-30 cartridge, but the 94 is 3 pounds lighter because it has less steel in the block. The Marlin? You can hot rod Marlin rifles to shoot dynamite sticks, I bet. The Winchester isn't a weak or fragile gun... it just doesn't handle ammo beyond what is stamped on the barrel. You save a lot of weight in doing exactly what you say and nothing more. Just like the Glock. It'll take 9x19mm from 115 to 147 and give you accuracy and reliability well beyond most other semi-autos. Just don't ask it to shoot heavy loads. Dear America's Gun Owners: RTFM. ... Q: What do you call a Glock with a +P+ in the chamber? A: A frag grenade. Last edited by Plan9; 02-29-2008 at 07:23 AM.. |

Just another note: the barrel in the second picture is not a Glock barrel, it is aftermarket, and I don't think the first picture was caused by a KB, looks more like a grinding wheel taken to the grip...

Lack of case support doesn't split barrels. Lack of case support doesn't increase pressure. Neither does firing out of battery which is a minor concern if you don't maintain or monkey with the gun.
That being said I only approve of the 9MM Glocks.
