I agree. I used to use a 3-point with my AR which was much more intrusive than with the shotgun - that's before the Vickers was around.
It's actually not that bad with the 870 but I'm thinking of going single point.

You sir, have good taste in firearms. How's the FS2000? I've heard people either love it, or compare it to shouldering a tuna.

Has your S&W 1911 been 100%? My first 1911s, a Charles Daly & a Sig GSR RCS both need work. The GSR needed an extractor tuned and is running 100% for me (although other shooters still experience jams sometimes). Still haven't figured out the Charles Daly, yet. Might have to due with the dirty and light WWB Winchester target loads.

Have heard nothing but good things about S&W 1911s though.

The stock FS2000 is like shooting with a big loaf of french bread but you get used to it. IMO it's much improved when you replace the forend with an aftermarket tri-rail and VFG or something like the Monolith Arms grip I have. I really like the p90-styled Monolith Arms grip which includes picatinny on either side. The FS2000 with that forend is actually more comfortable to hold than my ARs.

Unfortunately they don't make them anymore. Monolith was purchased by Magpul a couple of years ago and, to date, haven't made a version of that grip. A pity.

I really like my S&W 1911s. I have a 1911PD and a 1911DK. They've been flawless. I have heard about inconsistencies in the manufacture of the GSR. That's a pity because they're really nice looking guns.

I believe the the SIG GSR is build from a Caspian frame/slide. Lotsa fitting. That and I think most 1911s are antiquated lust-hobby plinkers.

They do have Caspian frames but that alone isn't the hallmark of excellence with a gun. The early GSRs did have issues with their function and finish. A few folks still do get some problems. I'm not saying they're lousy guns. I'm just repeating what I've read on places like pistolsmith.com. Here's one thread.
sig GSR 1911 - Pistolsmith

I'm also aware that anecdotal evidence alone doesn't make a case. I've never shot nor handled one personally myself. I'm sure they're really fine guns. Still, I'd probably favor my Les Baer or an Ed Brown or Nighthawk over a GSR.

Just making conversation. My buddy built a 1911 up frame a Caspian frame kit in '07 and had to do a lot of fitting work (days of it). I'm not a big fan of 1911s because I like pistols with interchangeable parts that hold more rounds than I have fingers. I'm not a genius, but every time I go to a shoot school with a guy running a high end 1911, it's still an exercise in reloading a dozen magazines. I guess I'm just another tacticool fudd mallninja derp.

I had a G19 with TLR-2 as my nightstand gun for easy laser point-and-click action, but personally, the lack of an external safety made me wary. I could imagine fishing around on my nightstand for my glasses only to trip the trigger on my G19, or--going for the snooze button and hitting the trigger....which is why I had it in a holster next on the night stand. Nevertheless, now I use a HK45C/TLR-1 instead.

I purchased this BHP on my 21st birthday 25 years ago. I have owned and sold many firearms since then but there's nothing like your first love.
I don't usually "baby" my guns but this is one exception. It's mostly stock except for trigger job and some internal "tuning."

Still looks new.

10mm? I only want to plug an intruder ... not the intruder - then interior wall, then the refrigerator, then the window, then the guy across the street.

Sounds like a challenge to me. How about a sight-in period followed by five, five-round groups @ 300 yards from prone-supported? Smallest group wins. One group of 10 rounds @ 100 in the event of a tie.

Loser buys the first round.

You don't want to use a square knot on something that doesn't have tension on both sides. Use a bowline. And use a goddamn overhand safety.
