Ebony Hunter - SRR Knife #1
Finally finished my first handmade knife! :D
This is a hunter forged from 1084 High Carbon steel, with a nickel-silver guard, ebony handle, and mosaic pin. The sharpened blade is 3.5" long with a 4" handle; 8-1/4" overall length. The whole knife is hand-rubbed to a 600-grit finish, and the handle is sanded to 600-grit then buffed to a polish. The mark was engraved with a diamond-stylus pantograph machine. This knife started about nine months ago in Old Washington, Arkaknsas. Forged and ground the blade there, and did the finish and handle here in Victorville. Took a lot longer than I would have liked, but for my first effort I am pretty happy with the results. VERY cool
looks really nice! |
I like it a lot
Is it very much more difficult to make a folding knife? |
Quite a bit harder. I'm going to make one soon hopefully, but there are a lot of parts to the lock that have to be just right or the lock is weak.
