How do you store your weapon?

Just curious as to how everyone stores their home defense weapon.

My 12-bore is stored with the magazine loaded, chamber empty, safety off. My .44 is stored loaded and ready to roll.

So no gun locks etc? I am torn. I have heard opinions on both sides. One saying unlocked guns are more dangerous. I feel like it isn't gonna help me very much if its locked up.

Negative. Just myself and sometimes other adults such as my friends or girlfriend.

Far better than kid-proofing your guns ( which is almost impossible ) is to gun-proof your kids. Teach 'em proper handling and safety at a VERY young age, take 'em shooting under your direct and EXTREMELY strict supervision, etc etc.

no worries, load it up, place it strategically, and keep your mouth shut about it.

I keep mine by my bed with a round chambered and the safety on. Since my bedside table doesnt have a drawer I keep it on the table so if I have friends over and we are drinking I put the lock on it. Otherwise its just me so I would rather have it where I can get at it quickly.

3 swords, 2 antique katanas on the wall (but sharpened and ready if absolutely necessary) over the fireplace, and 1 wakazashi in the closet near the door.

The thing to keep in mind is when you have adults in your home who you do not know or trust..
And CHILDREN of Any age (any child from 1-18 years of age)... then a gun safe is required in my opinion.

If you constantly have friends over and new aquantiences... then i would suggest a gun safe as well.

We've haven't had to get a gun safe yet, because it's only myself and my husband that are in the house 'free-roaming' ... we keep our guns loaded and usually in the bedroom when it's just us. When we have ppl over... we lock our bedroom with the guns in it. You can never be too careful... so always err on the side of caution, some ppl aren't familar with firearms and weapons and can be stupid if they get ahold of one....

I keep it behind a pair of jeans and boxers when there are young, impressionable females in the room.

Keep my .357 Mag revolver loaded in a small, secret compartment in my bedside table. It has no safety or trigger lock on it.
