wma to mp3

I use nero 6 to convert my cd's to my computer but some cd's will only allow them to be ripped in wma format and i like to make mp3 cd's to play in the car. does anyone know of a program that will rip wma's to mp3's?

I have been using Easy CD-DA Extractor from Poikosoft for a long time. It has an audio file format converter feature in the full version.

I second that, it coverts those pecky mp4s into mp3 to, which is very useful when your friends happen to save in that format.

EAC+Lame is the way to go. There's no better tool

also if you want to have eargasm's. rip your cd's with eac into wav then code them into FLAC. (Flawless Audio) omg.. the sound is amazing

dbPowerAmp to covert anything to mp3 and i have a program that imports mp3's in wav that i can save as any bitrate i chose with no loss of quality...

it's particularly handy when you burn a cd...

take for instance the Beatles Abbey Road... trax 10 - 13 - Sun King, Mean Mr. Mustard, Polythene Pam & She Came In Through The Bathroom Window are meant to play together, but when downloaded you'll get them split and when burned they skip, so this allows me to remix them to play as it is on the album

dbPowerAmp is a great tool..

but Hanxter, it's impossible to reencode a MP3 into a lossless codec then reencode into a lossy codec and not loose quality

I don't care how good the program is... you can't add quality once the track is compressed into a MP3. Whatever bitrate it's ripped into is what it stays at..unless you try to reencode it.. then even though the program says it's running at 300kbps you've actually got a lossier file than you had to start with.

anyway, that program you're talking about is great for editing and mixing though.

This is impossible

there will ALWAYS be a loss of quality anytime you are dealing with lossy codecs. You can't just convert a mp3 back into wav and expect it to go back how it was.. you'd have to re-rip the cd into a lossless codec (wav, flac etc) for there to not be a loss of quality.
