Svideo output

How do i get my svide port on my laptop to output in a 16:9 picture? right now is a 4:3 screen. And it dont fit my 16:9 tv very good.

Also has anyone tried using a dvi - hdmi cord to input to a TV?

There should be some software preferences you can play around with on your laptop to change the aspect ratio. Could you tell us more about your machine?

yeah your post need more info like type of TV and laptop.

s-video can only do 640x480 max so it will look shitty on an HDTV. if you want to stretch out the image to fill the whole tv, messing with ratio options on your TV can usually stretch out the image but it will look even shittier.

i have used my laptops vga out and connected it to my TV that has vga in. if your laptop has dvi and your tv hdmi, then you can do the same thing. you will just need a dvi to hdmi cable. find out the max resolution of your tv and change your laptops resolution to your TVs max. connect your laptop to your tv, then set the output to monitor.

Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 9300 with nvidia 6800 vide card. It has a VGA / DVI-D / SVideo out options. Right now im using a Svideo and the image qaulity aint bad since i got monster cables. But i realy think it can be better.

The TV is a 42" LCD Projection HDTV. It has Svideo / HDMI / Component / Composite Inputs.

Biggest problem im having is getting my laptop to output in 16:9. Right now it sees i have a TV hooked up to it and defaults to 4:3 for some reason. And it dont give me any option to change it.

I realy think my best option is DVI-D to HDMI. But when i read the manual for the TV it says on the HDMI port. "This is not made for use with a Computer." Not sure what that is about.

I have a DVI-D to HDMI, it’s a bitch to get setup, and takes a while to get perfect. svideo can not do 16x9 as far as I know, as Mbnfc said. As for the dvi to hdmi, I had to make a custom resolution with the ATI HDTV setup. it takes a while to get it right, the best suggestion to do it is get a second computer, use a remote control software (like tight VNC) and remote control the laptop with this second computer so you can tweak it wile you are displaying, otherwise you will have a blank screen to look at while you try to make adjustments.
