Locked Word and Excel Files

My parent's Christmas list is locked away in an excel file, and, well, I like any good child needs to get his grubby hands on it. :)

Does anyone know how I could crack Window's Word and Excel locks? :D

Zip it with a password and burn it to a CD. Then delete the file from the harddrive and hold the CD for ransom. :D

In reality, try opening it in OpenOffice.org or maybe just in Notepad and decipher what you can.

You might start here at the link and go from there. There is a link to another site to help you out even more.

Parent's xmas list:

If you mean by what they want for Xmas, then why don't you just simply ask them to print out a copy for you?

If you mean by what they're getting for you and others then dude, comon you're way past the age to be snooping around like that.

/goes off snooping

Don't be silly.

So, what's the real reason you need to get into an excel file. You can tell me ;)

Come on, a big part of the christmas fun is opening the presents :D. Plus, it is only like 5 days away!

Pft.

The real fun in Christmas is trying to figure out what you're getting in advance of busting open the gifts. Plus victory is much better if you've worked for it. Instead of you know, waiting it out.

haha. I remember one xmas I managed to open my presents - atari 2600 games - invite a couple of friends over and play them, then rewraped them and acted excited when I opened them. I hope my kids dont pull that crap.

santa is always watching - and santa has spyware installed on the computer :) Not to mention, I am personally friends with your parents, and oyou are soooo busted...

I'm telling!!!

You are getting nothing!!!

They might as well give the presents to me, I'll enjoy them :)

Whilst I agree with the sentiments of it's lame to want to know, or indeed, what's the real reason you want to break into word/excel documents, I use a program called "Advanced Office Password Recovery"

It's very good, and usually takes less than a few seconds to come up with the answer.

HTH!

You don't seriously want to know what your presents are, do you? How old are you??
Go on - you can tell us the real reason... :)

LOL! I remember years ago that when my family would go out for some reason, leaving me home alone and I would snoope around. Usually, the gifts were already wrapped but it's so easy to carefully peel the tape off the presents and take a good look inside and then put it all back together the way it was before.
