Just purchased WRT54G v3
I've moved away from home for a job.
I left a D-LINK DI-604 at home so as to not interrupt the LAN at home. I purchased a WRT54G v3 Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router for myself, in case I do find myself with a wireless device somewhere along the road. The one feature I currently am missing from the DI-604 is port redirection, that is having the router listen on an arbitrary port and redirecting the traffic inside to an arbitrary machine on an arbitrary port. Currently, I can only set it to listen on a port and have it direct it to the same port on any machine on my LAN. This is not what I want. Now, the firmware for the WRT54G is flashable with GPL software (DD-WRT, OpenWRT, HyperWRT etc), but I am afraid of flashing this thing in case it turns into a brick. Does anyone know of a technique or a distribution of formware that is known to work with this device that provides this feature?
