Indecisive about LCDs
I'm thinking about getting an LCD after my 21" CRT crapped out on me. The thing is I've never had any real experience with one but I did read up on it and have narrowed it down to pretty much two LCDs.
Samsung 915N http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001185 Hyundai L90D+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824179014 Also looking at the Samsung 930B, seems to be a newer 915 http://stores.tomshardware.com/ratin...15/id_type=M// Both seem basically the same with only a few variations like viewing angles, panel type, and display colors. But I wasn't really sure which to go for since the Hyundai one seems to get better reviews by customers online but they also say its pretty much a typical Hyundai product, not nessecarily the best quality. I'm not really sure about this but can anyone clarify if I would be able to use any of these monitors with two different inputs? I have one computer that I would like to use DVI on since the visual quality is much better but the other PC that I was to use it with (KVM switch) doesn't have a DVI port. The KVM also only uses VGA so I would have to convert DVI to VGA if I couldn't. Thanks |
I've used Samsung gear at work and have no complaints about it. The styling is nice and the build quality is good.
I didn't realise Hyundai made monitors - I've only ever seen their cars! |
I've seen Samsung monitors next to LG and Iiyama, and have to say that Samsung generally had the best picture quality. I don't know how they compare to Hyundai, though.
I had some bad experience with dead pixels; I used to work in a shop selling Samsung TFTs for the first time, and 50% of the shipment had dead pixels. The spokesman claimed it was bad luck, and I believe him. But I would encourage to check for dead pixel policies; you never know when you need it. As for the VGA/DVI question: All TFTs I've seen so far had either VGA or VGA *and* DVI. I doubt these particular TFTs would be different. |
I've never used Hyundi, but Samsung has been pretty good to me.
