I'm in the market for an LCD display. I love the Sony XBlack ones. Just wondering if there are any other recommendations for 19"+ monitors.

Also, please say if you have any stuck pixels - or are these a thing of the past?

I recently purchased a 20 inch Dell LCD and aside from 1 broken blue pixel (right in the middle which annoys the shit out of me and makes the monitor worthless to me), it's pretty damn sweet :).

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 193P and couldn't be happier with it. I don't have any dead pixels, and it generates a lot less heat than my 23" CRT. The only thing I don't like about the LCDs is they get cheaper after you buy them. :)

I have a 17" Sony with DVI-output and 1280x1024 resolution and I absolutely love it.

I've had my 20.1'' Sony SDM-S204 for less than a week, and love it. It's semi widescreen (displaying 1600x1200) which makes it look a lot bigger than a normal 20'' monitor would. Also the widerscreen and size compensates for the large resolution, meaning it doesn't hurt your eyes trying to read text becuase the entire screen is larger. It has 2 VGA and 1 DVI inputs, letting you use it for up to 3 machines with only a click of a button to cycle through them. 0 dead pixels. 170 degree viewing angle, which means the color and contrast looks great from where ever you look at it from which is something that a lot of other LCD monitors suffer from.

The monitor it's self I give a 10/10. But as far as fitting my personal needs I only give it a 9/10 because it doesn't have a TV tuner (very few monitors do though), which is something I was originally hoping for when my search for a new screen began (almost bought a 30'' TV Monitor but wasn't happy with the max resolution). Now I have to put out another 100 bucks for one.

I love my Dell 2005FP. 20" widescreen, 15ms response time, same LCD as Apple's Cinema Display.

19", analog & digital inputs, built-in speakers, in the low $500 range, only 1 dead pixel.
I highly recommend.

Oh, and dead pixels are not a thing of the past. Every LCD panel maker allows themselves a fixed number of dead pixels for each monitor, so if you have one or two you can't return the monitor. I wouldn't worry about it, it's usually something your mind blocks out and you don't see it until someone brings it up.

Dell 2405 FP, amazing monitor... Absolutely stunning for web dev and gaming. I run it hand in hand with a sony crt I have.

ViewSonic 19 inch flat screen...no dead pixels. its nice to have.

Viewsonic VP201b 20.1 inch. Absolutley love it, no dead pixels.

samsung syncmaster 172n. no dead pixels, but quality is not so great....

the grey X is loading screen flickers, as do certain patterns that show up in some of the xscreensavers....

colors aren't terrible, but not outstanding either.

I have a Nu 17" LCD, it's 16ms. It's decent. It got a little cut or something on the screen by barely touching it ( not sure how though really ), has 2 dead pixels. It's pretty good for the money though. I believe it was only around $260.00. I play a few first person shooter games, and have no ghosting, or anything, so it's not bad for gaming.

LCDs have gotten really cheap lately, so I'm going ot try and get a new one soon.
