aagh CD drive confusion! - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

so after alot of fiddling and messing around, i had to disable my real cd drives for a while to use some virtual drives. when i re-enabled them, they came out a little funny.

my D: drive, is no longer detecting as being a R/RW drive, at least not in my computer. device manager and everything still recognizes it as a burner drive.

so, i go into Alcohol for whatever reason, and about to burn an image but it doesnt let me continue "start" is greyed out.

so, looking at the overall Alcohol window where it lists the devices/status, my D drive is 'redded' out. Im not sure if different drives are just different colours, or if the red cd picture means there is a problem. which, i am assuming there is.

any ideas how to restore my drive to being able to burn?

Uninstall whatever Alcohol you have.

Uninstall all device drivers for it and remove everything from device manager.

Reboot PC.

Let windows detect the jawns and install your drivers for it.

When in doubt...re-install. It's kind of a hassle, but it'll probably solve the problem.
