Convert midi to wav

I need to convert 5 minutes of midi to a wav file. Does anyone know of any free software (not a trial version) that I could download to do this. Thanks.

You might want to try Audacity .
It has lots of features and is open source. I'm not 100% positive that it can do the conversion you want, but worth a look.

Rage...thanks for the suggestion. I went to Audacity, and at the moment Audacity does not handle midi files. But it's a great site. I'll be using it for other things.

You could use Winamp's wav output plugin to play the midi. It will dump the sound into a wav file as it plays..

Or, you could email me the file and I can do the same. I could also use another program with different MIDI Soundbanks. The largest bank being 1 Gig to enhance the song.

PM me and I can help you more if you like.

Technically, you cannot convert midi to wav because midi is information not music. You can however record the music a midi code makes by using a program that redirects your sound into a recorder or you can plug the outs of your soundcard into your ins. Hope this helps

Old versions of www.goldwave.com can convert MIDI to WAV (around about version 4.2).

Previously I used free services on the internet as an alternative to freeware programs. I liked one of them in particular, solmire.com. But quantity of midis was constantly growing and it became awkward to upload and download files every time when I wanted to convert them. It also ate much traffic. Then I found a program that could convert many midi files in a short time. Now I use it constantly . There is even a tutorial: How do I convert MIDI to MP3.

Depending on the sample set (sound files) you use it could end up sounding really cheesy.

I have some really good sample sets if you want to send the MIDI file to me I can convert it. It might take me a day or two to get it back to you as a wav. Just PM me.
