Can anyone help me play new dvds on my dvd-rom?
 

I am having a hissy-fit over these fucking new movies that won't play on my dvd-rom. I went to the MGM site and the info they gave was that it wasn't the fault of the dvd for not playing, it was just that I did not have the proper driver installed. Okay... well the Samsung website is not helping me one bit. Can anyone here help me out? I've tried a new MGM movie and a new Fox movie, among others, that will not even get read by my computer. I put the movie in and... nothing. It spins around for a few seconds, is all.

I have a... Samsung DVD-ROM SD-616T. I can play pretty much any movie that was released longer than a half year ago.

Hope the new firmware can fix it. Use Nero Info Tool to check on the drive's current firmware first.

Caution: update/flash firmware at your own risk. Don't come looking for me if the drive doesn't work after you update. :D

I found out that the drive will not read dual-layer dvds. So... time for a new drive, I guess.
