Browser Closes on Certain Links
 

Ok, I use Firefox normally, but this happens when I try with IE as well.

Basically, some links cause my browser to close all it's windows. Some of the games from popcap.com do it, as well as the Chat links here on TFP. I don't think it's a problem with TFP, or Firefox.

I have adaware and have run it, and it didn't find anything. It doesn't seem like it would be spyware or a virus, since it doesn't actually do anything with any regularity (although the same links always close the window). It happened the very first time i used a browser on this computer, although I think the link started working soon after.

Are you running XP SP2 and IE6? The pop up blocker is catching some of the sotes and shutting them down! It does it to me too, I just go in there and shut it off then have it accept the web page next time. All good after that.

GO to tools/popup blocker/turn off and give it a try. I bet your web page comes up :thumbsup:

Since you mention Popcap, perhaps you have some issues with either Shockwave or Java? It couldn't hurt to try reinstalling those.

the odd thing is that it works with some of the games, but not others.
and I have popups allowed for TFP, and the chat link doesn't open a new browser. I've also had it happen with a google image link, which also didn't open a new browser.
