Remote Access and XP media
I bought a laptop before leaving the states (in japan). I would like to contact my computer at home (I have people who can install programs for me.)
I never installed XP pro on the laptop before leaving and it would be a real pain in the ass to do it now. I had thought the media edition was xp pro with extras (I swear at one point it was). But it turns out not to be. Anyway, is there a way to use the Windows remote feature on Media player edtion 2005? Right now I will try to use VNC but I would rather use the faster windows one if I can install it. thanks.

Not sure, but you can download the Remote Desktop Client from MS's web site. Do a search in their downloads and you'll find it. There are versions for 2000 and XP for sure.

And for the record, according to MS the Media Center edition of XP is built of the XP Pro kernel, allowing for the additional admistration and networking capabilities. But even XP Home is supposed to have the remote desktop assitance capabilities.
