DVD media reviews?
Are there any sites out there that have some extensive reviews on different dvd media's?
Since there are several different brands out there, and some are the same thing under different labels, I'd like to find out which is the best and what names they're sold under. |

www.videohelp.com is probably one of the biggest sites. more specifically to what you're looking for is http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia
you might also check: http://cdfreaks.com/ http://www.cdrinfo.com/

Bendsley beat me to mentioning videohelp and cdfreaks as sites to learn about what is the best media available.
Generally, Ritek media and Taiyo Yuden (almost any media actually labelled as "made in japan") are 2 of the better brands. The cdfreaks forum for dvd media might help you understand the differences in medai while the videohelp dvd media lists help tell you what brand carries which discs. The big problem is that most brands use/repackage discs from many manufacturers (i.e. tdk can be just about anything from crappy CMC to high quality Taiyo Yuden to anything in between). |

www.afterdawn.com is another site that discusses quality. The trouble with dvd quality is that brand name doesn't always tell you who made the disks. I've had good luck with RiData (made by Ritek), Verbatim (made by Mitsubishi), and Prodisc (made by Prodisc or Misubishi). Taiyo Yuden are considered among the best, but there are fake ones out, as well
