Heatsinks for Socket 754 & 939
Im looking to upgrade from my socket 754 system to a socket 939, and trying to save a few bucks. Will a heatsink that fits on the 754's mounting bracket also fit a 939's?

Hate to be harsh but No
Edit: Well, that depends on what brand of heatsink you got |
I have a Zalman CNPS7000-CU which is compatible with Sockets 939, 940, 754, and 478 (but who'd care about Intel, eh?). There's even a version that's compatible with Socket A. So it depends on the heatsink. I'm not sure if most of them are cross-compatible to this extent.

I got a the Thermaltake Venus 12. I was hoping that AMD had mandated a standard mounting bracket across the series, rather than a unique one for each. Ill just have to try it out when the new mobo comes in.

they are not compatable, some heat sinks have adapters that allow you to use the same heat sink with difrent components on difrent boards, the most of the zalmans have parts to make them compatable with several types of motherboards.
