Annoying XChat problem
I was using XChat tonight and suddenly, for no apparent reason, it started throwing all my PMs into one channel.
For example, I'd be in a channel and type something like '@find robot chicken', and instead of the (correct) behavior of each response arriving in a separate tab, all of the responses flood into the channel. As far as I know I haven't changed any settings; I certainly haven't visited any of the preferences windows. Anybody know what causes this or how to fix it? |

Chances are the bots you were dealing with just work that way. Depending on how the bots work, sometimes I'll get separate tabs, sometimes the response will be in channel. That's the best I can think of...I'm not sure if there's even a setting for XChat to put PMs in the channel - I only know of choosing between a tab and a separate window.

Yeah, I'm not seeing any are to say where PMs should go. I'd guess the changed the bot's behaviour, if it just prints stuff into the channel.
I'm still not sure if you mean they PM you and the PM is still a PM, it just goes into the channel window.. or if they just print the message out into the channel. |

No, the bots behavior is the same; the messages that get dumped into the main channel are "marked" by the nick in the left column being a different color and having tick marks around them, indicating that this was a PM.
Maybe I'll just whack my ~/.xchat and go from there. |
