windows minimizing to notification area

Recently, my windows are sometimes shown as icon in the notification area, it's pretty erratic, and sometimes different windows would be minimised while others are still in the taskbar.
Anyone have any ideas as to how I can stop this?

Unsure really what you mean, are the icons in the notification area of your screen hiding or minimizing to the notification only and not the taskbar? if its the first, right click the task bar and go to properties then uncheck the box saying "hide inactive icons". Otherwise it sounds like a property of each individual application. sorry if this is totally not what u asked.

Yeah, it's the second one, but I think it's because of DVD Region+CSS Free.

Are there any particular applications that you've noticed doing this? Things like AOL IM and Winamp have the option for "Remove/Hide Taskbar Icon when minimized" and it may be contributing.

I've finally figured out why it does this: If I press the minimize button at the top of the window, it will go to the notification area, (to the icons in the bottom right corner with the clock.)
If I press the toolbar buttons (along the bottom), it will minimise the window, but the button will still be in the toolbar.

Still don't have any ideas how to make it stop though.

Try checking your Add/Remove Programs list for something call Tray It!

It's a longshot, but at the moment it's all I've got.

No Tray It, but does WindowBlinds affect it? Just wondering since the time period is about the same.
