Top Free Software?
As a poor college kid i'm always lookin for ways to keep my money under check. I'm trying to keep all of the software on my computer legit... Though I have already ruined that with a few programs. What would you guys suggest as the best free legit software out there, for stuff like, virus scanning, photo editing, video editing, calendars (I like sunbird but it's just missing a lot of stuff still) , and any other just all around tools, or just cool programs.

virus scanning: AVG from www.grisoft.com
photo editing: GIMP from www.gimp.org (it's good, but it definitely takes a little getting used to, especially if you're used to photoshop) office suite: OpenOffice.org from www.openoffice.org

Other than raving about Linux/Bsd/opensource, here's what I have. This is a pretty good site for indexing software that is free, legal, and doesn't contain spyware.

For image browsing, I use Picasa. It's free and looks pretty sharp. It has quite a few good quick image editing tools in it too.
