A+ / Network + certification
 

Does anyone have these certifications. I took the A+ exam about 2 yrs back. i am studying for the network + right now. however, i've learned that the A+ exam is a prerequisite (sp?) for the Network + exam. Do you know if you can check you certification status online?

If someone wants to pay me to take an A+ or Network+ exam, I will go and do it with both hands behind my back, blindfolded and still be able to make a perfect score. I myself however would never pay to take either one of those exams.

I do have a CCNA and have one test left (advanced switching) to obtain my CCNP from Cisco.

A+ doesn't mean jack anymore in my opinion.

From what I remember, A+ is not a prereq. it's completly different from Net +. I'm not sure how to check your certs with comptia, but you can if you take any Microsoft tests.

i know the a+ means very little now. but my focus is to be well educated in network security. i believe that this will always be a area of IT that will be in need of certified professionals. any advice you can lend me in regards to taking the net+ or any other exams i'll need to take afterwards is greatly appreciated

im currently in an a+/n+ course right now.. the a+ i found wasnt to bad because my teacher taught us a lot of stuff thats need to know but never in the books.. networking is also his calling so he was teaching us a ton of stuff for the n+ exam..

if/when you take the n+ exam let me know how it is. i am currently reading a n+ book but i may sign up for a class. my a+ teach had given us all a copy of certsheets, so we all had the answers prior to taking the test.

CompTIA certs are okay for entry level, but I'd immediately try getting something afterwords... Cisco, MS or others.

I have a CCNA and am working towards my CCSP. Bendsley, wtf is a CCNE? Do you mean CCNP? CCNE isn't even listed on Cisco's T&C site.

Yeah, CCNP, sorry. Guess I had CNE, from Novell, on the brain. I got a CNE in Netware 4.11 and a CNE in GroupWise when I first entered college. Those sure haven't helped me get anywhere at all. What a waste of money.

All I lack for the CCNP is 642-811 BCMSN.

Good deal... the CCNP is a great cert to have (so I hear). I'm trying to go strictly into netsec, so CCSP then CCIE - Netsex is my plan. We shall see...

CCIE will come later I guess. I've heard horror stories from people taking the lab and written. I've looked over some of the material, and I must say it is quite in-depth.

I've looked at the CISSP cert. (not CCSP from Cisco), but haven't had time to look too far into it. I hear it's a good one to have.
