Teamspeak

Not sure if this should go here or in Tilted Gaming, but it leans towards the technical side, so I will post it here.

My friends and I play World od Warcraft on a PvP server and are interested in setting up Teamspeak, so we can more easily communicate. However, we all have cable modem, and our upload speed isn't too hot. After setting up a server on my extra box, I found that I would have occasional obvious upload lag if more than 2 people tried speaking at once.

So, we're interested in renting a Teamspeak server. However, no one I know is currently using a service for this. So, does anyone have any suggestions on what host to go with for this? Are you using a service, or have you heard of anyone who is? I've done a google search and a little research, but I'm just inquiring as to any first or second hand stories.

Thanks for any info you may have!

Thank you for the reply.

Although that does help, as a large number of the hosts listed for Ventrilo also host Teamspeak servers, it still doesn't really give me any ideas as to which hosts are any good.

What host have you used in the past for Ventrilo? Did they have good customer service and tech support?

Ventrillo and Teamspeak use so little bandwidth, I doubt you would notice it during game play.

and
http://nationgaming.com/

are the two that i've mostly dealt thru.. well the clans i've been in.. they had very quick customer service..

nation gaming was the last one i dealt with.. great codec's for it too.. very clear..

I've run teamspeak over a cable modem, just turn your rates down to the 5.3k or whatever speex compression, and you should be okay. I always notice that even with a ton of bandwidth (hosted on my co-located server) you can't really understand what is going on when two people are trying to talk over each other.

I'd volunteer to host a server for you, but the co-lo plan I'm on is almost at capacity, and if you go over your gigs, it really gets expensive and fast.
